Revealing Mercedes CLK spy shots
The all-new 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK is set to roll-in at the Paris Motor Show in October and with only months to go engineers are furiously fine-tuning the car before it makes its world debut.

These latest spy shots give us the closest look yet at the car’s new profile, revealing crucial new clues about its wheelbase and overhangs.

The softer lines of the current CLK have been replaced with a chiseled look and wedge profile borrowed from the larger S-Class.

Can't judge until the camo is gone, but this looks very CL-ish to me, and that is certainly a good thing. Glad they got rid of the bubble roof on the current car.

Interesting to note that Mercedes has already decided the pop out Nav screen was a bad decision. This looks a little too GLK-like for me though.

With the S5/335i/G37 coupes owning the roads, Mercedes really can't screw this car up. Let's hope the base car has the new 300hp+ V6.

Crap, they're still using this cheap interior design... Not happy.

Wow, everyone is copying the GS now. First it was the Jag XF, with the identical body shape, now it's the CLK copying the quad headlight setup, looking good :)

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

mercedes began the style of quad-headlamps fool
the old e-class came out 3 YEARS before the gs did

ok, i'll give you that but it looks better executed on a Lexus.

"mercedes began the style of quad-headlamps fool, the old e-class came out 3 YEARS before the gs did"

Cute, a bit iffy in a historical sense. Certainly, Lexus did not originate quad-headlamps. The Jaguar XJ has had them for the past 40 years, and the Mark X, which came out in 1961, had them before that.

Mercedes has had quad headlamps for decades.

What the hell are you people talking about/ You can barely see any details of the interior.

Look at it. It has the same small, cheap-looking buttons as the C-Class and GLK.

yes, those buttons are plastic; however, they are good quality ones. I wish MB had put more flair in the upper halves of the C-class, GLK, and CLK dashes, but it's not too bad. The protruding plastic hood over the screen is borderline-unacceptable though. It's obvious it's plastic. arg

As high-quality as they may be, they're not attractive and don't make for a warm, inviti g interior. That's a big omission, especially in a $50K+ car like this. They executed the S and CL interiors perfectly, but these new interiors appear to have been inspired by a ruler and don't have anything in common with them.

there is nothing high quality about the interior of the c class ive sat in one before it is neither attractive nor high quality, even the mags agree, they really went in the wrong direction with the c class it appears they are attempting to cut costs.......it has to have one of the worst interiors in its class

WimmerWimmer - 5/23/2008 8:19:55 PM

Oh Jesus Christ, the interior of the current C-Class is perfectly fine. It's well built and the materials are definitely high quality. It just lacks boring in comparison to some of its rivals, but that doesn't mean the interior is cheap.

even reviewers think so....so yes it does, there are hard cheap plastics everywhere it looks and feels awful

I don't know why the renderings show the CLK with E-Class like headlights. Is it official the new CLK will get those headlights?

For some reason, I think the new E class will have the exact same rear lights of the rendering. Maybe even the front!

High belt line and a long glasshouse. Quite S5-like. Notice how much bigger it is, they are clearly preparing the fit a C class convertible underneath it.

I will reserve judgment on the interior - although the vents look high quality, and there's more chrome than in the C class.

you could make a listen of cars dozens long that have that exact same description.........hardly just the S5

The S5/A5 is its competitor - why would I not compare it? Look at the boots of both cars - they are very similar.

0 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
probably because your one of those people think someone is always being copied.....there is nothing groundbreaking about the S5 to be copied styling wise, certainly not a high beltline and long greenshouse or are you saying Audi copied, the 300, the magnum, the corvette...the list goes on.....it doesnt look anything like an A5 or S5

Did I say the word copied?? It's similar. It's a general styling trend, to have bigger cabins and shorter boots.

more personal insults from S4....certainly a typical Audi fan...when you cant handle the truth result to doing what you do best not being dignified.....

so basically you agree there was no point in saying a CLK looks like an S5.....im glad we are on the same page
