So, what do you get when you take parts from a BMW, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, amongst others and put them together using an open-sourced method?

You get the Local Motors Rally Fighter, of course!

Although this is hard to say with all of the wacky stuff at the SEMA show, the Rally Fighter has to be the craziest car at the show.

Equipped with a BMW 335d engine, power is substantial.  Putting out 265-horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque and weighing in at an estimated 3,200 pounds, performance is likely to impress.

Not to mention it should get reasonable MPG out of the diesel motor.  It is said to get approximately 30-36 MPG.

Now you may be asking just who are these Local Motors guys anyway?  Basically their idea is to connect with buyers who want to be a part of the design process and individualize their car.  Thus, it will bring car enthusiasts, engineers and designers together.  Pretty revolutionary, no?
