i know this will piss a lot of people off, but in the second to last picture the new Corolla could easily be mistaken for an LS460. You cant deny it has got a very similar shape. I understand its is done purposly, but how much do you want your entry level car resembeling your flagship? Toyota does many things great, but In My Opnion has the most boring styling by far.

I can somewhat see what you are saying, but the LS is a very attractive car with fantastic proportions. This Corolla is an ungainly fat turd with terrible proportions and an underachieving list of been-there, done-that (4 years ago) features.

FUNNY YOU SAID THAT BECAUSE WHEN THE BLUE COROLLA FIRST POPPED UP, "IS-F" CAME TO MY MIND...

Lexus IS-F drivers are going to have hard time in explaining that they don't drive a Corolla. Ha, ha, ha...

Cheap ugly junk! I own a Corolla!

My name is there just for amusement purposes, HOWEVER, Hyundais look better than Toyotas now! (with exception to interiors, where neither is a winner, and you have to look to Honda for what an interior in this price range should look like)

DOWN WITH TOYOTA! YOU HAD TIME TO MAKE AN IMPRESSIVE COROLLA AND YOU FAIIIIIIIIILED!

PS: Ugly beak on the Matrix. Pontiac Vibe is the better looker.

Does anybody remember that when the Civic was unveiled, it was rumoured that Toyota went back to the drawing board to create something a little more exciting than what they had? Well, the Euro Corolla was released shortly after the Civic. This is essentially the Euro Corolla. Toyota needed more time to do THIS?!

Bloody Toyota, doing an underwhelming job hoping to increase more profits by doing a lacklustre Corolla in hopes that the money they cut from R&D will be balanced by their reputation. Toyota, you cannot rely on your reputation always!

I guess the surprise here for Halloween is, "BOO! What were you expecting? Something exciting?!"

lol.. not really.

By all the deboosting of the comments regarding the boringness of this 10th generation Corolla, it looks like the popular opinion is "boring is 'in'!".

There's just NO WAY that Toyota could have spent as much time as they did (including a complete redesign of the redesign) and come up with this (these) automotive atrocities!

I have never seen two vehicles more devoid of any personality what-so-ever... and that includes the gawd awful new Impreza/WRX!

These two cars are more sterile than an operating room in a hospital (actually, that isn't too hard to achieve, but the point is made, I'm sure..).

You don't have to love this Corolla to love Japanese cars.

With regards to the Matrix, it seems that Toyota took the Japanese market Blade and redesign the front and rear ends for the US market. The next Vibe looks better than this Matrix.

Many Many Times Better!

Though I don't believe that this is the next (U.S.) Matrix at all, it's just a 'kitted' 5-door JDM/Euro Corolla.

That's ONLY because it's the oldest automotive model nameplate in existence...

PERIOD!

Funny stuff... even when they're not trying to be conservative they can't help themselves. Toyota knows which customer base to better serve and I'm pretty sure it isn't most of us in here. I don't think the Corolla/Matrix was ever gonna deviate too far from their predecessors because on Toyota's bottom line they were very successful being just as boring as they always are. So seeing this is really not that big of a surprise. But will this hurt them in the long run? My guess is yes but only time will tell.

I don't think they're horrible, but they're not particularly impressive, either. I'm just indifferent to these cars. I don't expect much.

Yes-I tend to agree with you.You knowthat Nissan took a nose dive before Renault bought majority interest in them. One of the reasons was their boring product line.I don't think Toyota suffers from this as much due to the number of SUV's it has in it's line up.However the Camry and Corolla as well as the Matrix are very main stream dull cars. I think that GM is poised to hurt them in the not too distant future due to a more exiting product line.

I'm sure it's a nice car for people in their early twenties that like to get stoned, but I prefer Mercedes-Benz klasse if you don't mind!

I need superlative quality in my life :)

If you are going to get stoned, you might want to get an interesting vehicle to look at, not something that looks like a padded white room.

The Vibe is way cleaner and refined looking. The Matrix looks like it grew on the side of a fish...
