In the past couple of months, we've seen the baby Jaguar XE in spy images. Hiding under an XK's body, it's pretty easy to see that something proportionally is not all quite there. Now that we know Jaguar is up to something, it makes it all the more interesting that Jag decided to release sketches of the C-X16 -- whatever those random letters and numbers mean.
As AutoExpress points out, what makes this peculiar is that spy shots have targeted a convertible in testing; however, the sketches show a coupe. I guess we can assume that a convertible will arrive first then a couple will follow behind?
With any luck, Jaguar will make sure to have something prepared for next month's Frankfurt Motor Show.

...The newcomer has been under consideration since the XK180 and F-Type concepts debuted in 1998 and 2000 respectively; both fell by the wayside because of financial constraints. Jaguar hasn’t released any details on what will power the C-X16 or the final production model. However, a range of newly developed V6 engines is expected. These will produce between 275bhp in naturally aspirated form and as much as 375bhp in the supercharged R. Reports suggest diesel power could be under consideration, too...
