Accidents happen all the time, everywhere. It's really just a fact of driving. And the more miles you put on the odo, the more likely you're to have an incident. It's just statistics, really.
And if you've ever wondered if accidents happen with the prototypes that get spied on a daily basis, this post will clear all of that up with a resounding "YES!"
In honor of Mercedes-Benz's spectacular crash this week with its all-new SLS AMG Black Series, which wound up being quite charred, we've decided to give you a peek at Auto Motor Und Sport's large gallery of cracked prototypes.
Thankfully, most of these prototype crashes end up with the passengers making out safely and in good shape; however, we've seen a couple of incidents in the past two years that were downright sad.
First, one of Lexus' top test drivers who was a legend within the company -- Hiromu Naruse -- perished behind the wheel of an LFA Nurburgring Edition. And more recently, unfortunately, a BMW test driver was killed in a violent crash while testing a hybrid prototype.
Our thoughts go out to these individuals and their respective families.
