It's not everyday you run into an incredibly rare piece of metal. To be more specific, it's not everyday you run into a vehicle of which 12 only exist — of which ONE is in the U.S. — and it was turned into a Matchbox car. Well, yesterday morning that day happened to me!
While cruising for some breakfast with my 'ol lady in a quaint Northern New Jersey village, I saw something extraordinary drive past me on the perpendicular street. It was silver, had a peculiar Audi R8-like design element behind the doors and had a DeLorean look to it. But it clearly wasn't a DeLorean.
After laughing a bit and scratching my head at what just passed by I knew I had to follow it Counting Cars style and learn more about it. Luckily the driver pulled into a parking lot quickly.
Ginny (Ginnie?) popped open the Gullwing door and I just had to ask "What is that?" After a friendly conversation and learning more about the vehicle I was stunned. Here's the rundown:
- It's a Siva
- This was the actual car at the London Motor Show
- It features a 1300 cc Volkswagen Karmann Ghia motor
- That is a manual gearbox in there — the gas pedal is tucked in there if you look closely
- The electronics went in it, that's why you'll note the new set center stack
- It's the only one in the good 'ol U-S-of-A.

Ginny (Ginnie?) Told me that she and her husband snapped the car up from Tennessee via eBay. Given its rarity and that it has the same exterior/interior color, we think this is definitely "the one." Note some of the mods that now made their way into the car: new center stack, radio head unit pulled out, badging, etc.
