You know the saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink." Well, that certainly applies in BMW's case with the all-new 3-Series Gran Turismo.

Though anyone honest panned the 5-Series GT's rather polarizing styling — not to mention sales, frankly, sucked — it seems that BMW is doubling down on a bad bet. That's because the 3-Series GT is a reality. And the way I see it, there's only two ways this is going to end:

1) This thing is going to sell out and be the talk of the town, or

2) Most likely this thing is going to fall flat on its face.

I just don't see enough buyers lining up to buy it and then have to explain to their neighbors why they didn't just go get an X3 or a 3-Series wagon.

That said, some great shots were snapped of a New Jersey-plated "DTM" car. In NJ those are manufacturer plates that are used for prototypes, marketing vehicles or press cars.

Though we've seen it at the auto shows under harsh lighting and on a stage, we're a bit curious how much you like or dislike the all-new 3GT while its on the road and in a real-world environment.

A production-ready BMW 3 Series GT was spotted today in Midtown, NYC.

The new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo will arrive in the US, as both a 328i and a 335i, in the summer of 2013 as a 2014 model. This third body variant of the current 3 Series model family unites the sporty-dynamic genes of the Sedan with the practicality and versatility of the Touring, along with enhanced space and ride comfort.
