Since BMW launched the 5-Series Gran Turismo and rumors spread of a 3-Series GT, folks wondered if the BMW 3 wagon's fate was sealed. Apparently not, at least in Europe.

You see, that's the problem. While we see here a 3'er wagon in development, that's not a guarantee BMW will be bringing one to the States. Much like the 5-Series, BMW could easily say that it would rather give the 3GT a bigger push.

If that's the case, let's hope the vehicle actually looks good and doesn't cost an arm...and a leg.

Now if that seems a bit too dreary, don't be completely depressed. It wouldn't be a shocker if the high-volume model, the 328i, does receive a "touring" variant in the states. I believe BMW could make a business case for that as it is the strongest selling product and a 328i wagon would be an interesting variant. Granted, it's biggest competition would be between the X3 xDrive28i and soon-to-be-launched X1.

Man, after reading that I actually can't imagine how BMW could bring over a 3-Series wagon but as they say in the auto business: "There's an ass for every seat."
