Although it seems a rather steep hill to climb, General Motors' Cadillac division will square up with the likes of the Audi A8 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Yes, there are also cars like the 7-Series and Lexus LS, but I would be hard-pressed to call them competitive these days. Wait until the all-new models come out with those guys.

The car is tentatively being called the LTS and right here is another set of spy shots coming to us from abroad. From what we can see it appears quite a bit longer than the brand's current offerings and appears to be sporting that prominent Cadillac face.

Styling is said to be inspired by the likes of the much-loved concept, the Elmiraj.

If this car will debut anywhere, we're putting our bottom dollar on the Detroit Auto Show; however, I have heard rumors a New York appearance may be in the works.

I guess Cadillac is already planning for this to follow the footsteps of the XTS and become the all-new "black car."
