If there's one car that completely surprised me when I got behind the wheel, it would easily be the Cadillac CTS-V. Though I wasn't completely sold on American cars at the time, all you needed to do was strap into one of these second-gen bad boys and after having fun with its supercharged V8 you quickly "got it."

Now we're looking at the third-gen CTS-V and after seeing the Z06 at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), hopes are running high.

These shots provide the very FIRST look at the prototype of the V. No word on the powertrain yet but speculation is percolating around the new Z06's 6.2-liter V8 good for approximately 600 ponies.

The car looks like it's very early in its testing cycling and our friends at Motor Trend seem to believe we'll see it next go around in Detroit.
