So, let me get this right. This could take a second...

BMW makes the iconic 3-Series sedan and coupe. The cars have done fantastically well and essentially -- in terms of sales -- are always out of reach from the various competitors that admit they benchmark their products against the 3'er. OK.

BMW's 5-Series, while it's had a bit of a rough ride against the competition as of late, is always a fierce competitor and the E39 was named the best car, ever at one point.

Both products make great sedans AND the 3-Series coupe is, in my opinion, likely the best product the brand makes.

So, why does it need a 3-Series-based four-door coupe when it has the 3-Series Gran Turismo on the way? I guess the same reason why Mercedes-Benz needs the CLA and Audi has the A5 Sportback.

Anyway, the spy shots have emerged.

One oddity I picked up and I can't seem to discern -- is its B-Pillar weird or is it just me? Is that camouflage or the indication of frameless windows?


The 4 Series Gran Coupe (F36) has now taken its development to the Nurburgring for some high speed performance testing. It's the first we've seen of the prototype on the Ring, as well as being fitted with M Sport Brakes...

...Codenamed as the F36, the 4 Series Gran Coupe will be positioned and priced in the 3/4 Series lineup just as the 6 Series Gran Coupe is positioned in the 5/6 Series lineup (in between the coupe and convertible models)...
