Now if someone were to approach me and simply ask "Hey, 00R, what's the very best driver's car money can buy new," I'd probably say in a millisecond "Go check out a Porsche Cayman and if you want to have some extra fun, look at the Boxster."

That's because it's remarkable how much of a blast these two mid-engine sports cars can be.

And though Porsche currently offers a base car and an "S" variant at the moment, there's always room for more. As we saw with the last-gen car, it produced a GT3-like "R" model and while we're not sure if the boys and girls from Stuttgart will go down that path again, we are sure that it will build a GTS model. At least that's what the latest spy shots consisting of the Boxster and Cayman seem to suggest.

Clearly Porsche has spent some coin to ensure that the product portfolio has a GTS in many of its vehicles. If my memory serves me right, it originally started out with the 911, then the Cayenne and Panamera. I could be wrong with the order.

We expect Porsche to give these GTS Boxsters and Caymans a slight power bump in the range of 10-20 horsepower and do some suspension modifications to make it a bit more stiff without going overboard. From there — and this is pure speculation — we assume Porsche will provide an even more hardcore model to follow up the last-gen "R."
