Our spy on the street, Fred Khaz, was at this weekend's Cars and Coffee in SoCal and, as usual, someone had to bring something extra special. This time around it was the folks at Toyota who decided to dust off the FT-1 that is likely home in Torrance as the auto show season is decidedly over for the summer.

Now it's time for racing and some R&R.

This is the first time we've seen — outside of auto shows — that Toyota is letting civilians get up close and personal with the all-new concept. When we saw it at Detroit we were blown away. It looks good and it's definitely not "playing it safe," by any measure.

Considering everyone's betting that this is the all-new Supra, it's a pretty big deal for the brand. With no clue as to how much power or what sort of price it would command, it's definitely something to keep an eye on. We know Toyota can build monumental products — just look at the past Supras and LFA — but this time around it really has our interest if the production version boasts the attitude of the FT-1 Concept. That air brake had me when it first rose.

All that said, check out the FT-1 as it sits with its bredrin during yesterday's Cars and Coffee. You think Toyota is trying to tell us something? ;)
