Agreed. This roadster is hot and should perform just as well as the hard top version. I test drove a business partner's 2006 Black SLR in the summertime. Think about how much louder the engine will sound when you drive a roadster with the roof down. It will be great!

Can you say "cowl shake?"

I thought the RS4 Cabriolet would be awesome to drive... but from what I've read, it's like a plate of jello compared to the sedan. I can't imagine what will happen to this 600hp monster.

I guess it's a grudge. I don't know particularly why-- I love Merc --but I've never liked the SLR. I prefer the Carrera GT and LP640.

"Can you say "cowl shake?"

Not really. Because of the SLR's hefty premium, Mercedes engineers can afford to add extra carbon-fibre bracing to the body structure and other rigidity-enhancing changes to limit any structural flexibility.

Unlike the RS4's motor, the torque-laden SLR V8 won't mind an extra few pounds added to make up for the loss of a roof.

Also, I don't think the A4 cabriolet was designed from the outset to have such an unforgiving suspension set-up as found on RS models.

Also, the SLR has a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, a la Ferrari Enzo, so is hardly going to need very much extra support.

Okay, I can see that. I still don't really like the SLR. Of course it would grab my attention if I saw one on the street, but I don't think it looks particularly appealing- Mercedes could've done better. Look at the CLK GTR!
