It's about that time when the Ford Explorer undergoes a bit of a facelift.

Though it only seems like yesterday that the all-new Explorer launched with its somewhat Land Rover Range Rover appeal, the time has come.

We know this because a reader-submitted spy photograph was sent to us just this week showing what appears to be an Explorer prototype that's heavily camouflaged. In fact, the camouflage is so severe I am actually wondering if this is simply a facelift or something much more going on here.

Could it be a hybrid? Could it be an SVT-inspired model? Do EITHER of these ring a bell to you?

From what I can see though I would wager it's just a simple refresh that's buttoned up extra tight as it works its way around Dearborn, near the company's headquarters.
