Although a lot of reviewers and critics took on the current-gen BMW X5M and X6M by calling them ridiculous and senseless, it seems like you can't get the keys out of their hands.
Everyone likes to pick on the big guys, it seems.
Personally, I was more than happy to own up to the X5/6M being great sport-utility vehicles. You have to put it in perspective: Though these M cars broke the tri-colored division's rules, their capabilities were astonishing. These SUVs are just as fast as an E46 M3 around a track. Considering the weight increase it's downright remarkable.
In addition, if you ever had the chance to monkey around with one on a track I will say it is pretty cool to have a higher seating position to hit your apexes.
Now, of course, with the all-new X5 out and the X6 on its way, it's time to see what M has in store for its second go 'round the family haulers. If you missed out on Fred Khaz's shots of the X5M in SoCal from earlier today, we suggest you check them out. Or, you could just scope out the latest video from the world famous Nürburgring below.
