Just like it's other M bredrin, the BMW M5 and M6 that were the focus of conversation for 2012 leading into 2013, the M3 and M4 reveals are expected to be the most anticipated events of 2013 leading into 2014.
And there's good reason for this.
All signs point to this generation M3 being the BEST ever.
I firmly believe that the E9x BMW M3 will become the 996 of M3's — essentially, I am saying it will be the red-headed step child of the group.
From what we've heard, on paper, the upcoming M3/M4 will have similar horsepower figures to the current vehicle; however, it will get a SUBSTANTIAL boost in torque. In addition, the rumormill speculation has said the car should get lighter. Adding this together with what we assume will be the most advanced BMW transmission yet, we think this is going to be one VERY impressive product.
Not to mention the renderings and spy pics we've seen seem to hint at one seriously aggressive looking auto. We're all over it like white on rice, folks.
BUT, the BEST part so far has been the new M3's sound. This thing just purrs like a kitten all day long and has such beautiful and traditional six-cylinder sound. To my ears it's very Porsche-like and I am loving every second of it.

Though I've been critical of BMW's business moves lately, I have to say WHEN THEY GET IT RIGHT, BOY DO THEY GET IT RIGHT!
The new BMW M3 (F80) has been spied once again, ahead of an official reveal set for later this year or early 2014.
Under the hood it is expected to feature an inline-six 3.0-liter S55 turbocharged engine producing 415 hp (310 kW) and 395 lb-ft (535 Nm). This engine will also power the upcoming BMW M4 Coupe (due in late 2014), which will be the range-topping model of the new 4-Series set to arrive this year with Coupe, Cabriolet and GranCoupe versions in the pipeline.
