SPY PHOTOS: STUD OR DUD? New Mazda 6 Caught On The Streets Of Irvine
As usual, our good buddy Fred Khaz was in the right spot at the right time today, as he snapped these spy shots with his cell phone of the new Mazda 6, on the streets of Irvine.

Those S-Class like exaggerated wheel arches a pretty large for a car that size.

What do you all think?

Is it a STUD or a DUD?

Maybe I am biased being a CX-9 owner, MAZDA's designs really appeal to me. The rotor looks small because the wheels are at least 17" (maybe even 18"). Mazda are very aggressive in term of offering large alloy wheels. Imagine that CX-9 has 20" wheel standard on GT model. I won't be surprised that the upper end model of the 6 has 18" wheel standard.

I agree, the front wheel arches are a bit exaggerated given the short nose of the vehicle. Mazda has come a long way with their designs, this is in the right direction. The rear is not so unique although still sporty. Not sure if I like the front inserts, they seem to detract fromt he headlights.

I believe this vehicle shares the same platform with the lincoln MKX and Ford Edge. I dove an MKX the other day. great Ride! Great Vehicle. the Dash and instrument cluster is perfct. And Micrsoft Synch makes it even better.

If you are looking for an upscale version of the Mazda 6, test drive an MKS.

agent63,
Looks like an LS rear-ended an S-class which in turn rear-ended a Mazda 3.

I like the current 6 better.

It is not LS on the rear. The LS looks like Civic hatch. New Mazda6 has style, but LS...?
The driving experience is great for new Mazda6.
The brake disc seems smal, but I haven't problem with the braking at testdrive.

Did this fool really say "s class like wheel arches"?? Get it right; benz jacked those arches right from the RX-8. As in, MAZDA RX-8. This design feature has simply trickled down to other Mazdas. And, I might add, flows much better on them than they do on any m-b.

I'm hoping for another Mazadaspeed 6; based on how the last one sold, I'm not certain if that will be a reality. With that said, the new 6 looks great. Congrats to Mazda!. Now, lets put a bit more effort into that RX-8 ;)

There isnt one single circumstance known to man that would cause me to drive a camcord over this. They could give me one for every day of the week, with free gas, and I'd still say hell no, and head right down to the Mazda dealer.

Perhaps it's the quality of the photos (taken through a window), but the car looks really bloated. The rear end looks bland (I like the taillight treatment on the euro version more).

This American version/speced is little different from what we get here in Middle East.
Front bumper is different, Complete rear end is different, roofline is different...etc

I think our Mazda 6 looks better.

Mazda sent me an exclusive magazine for this 6 cuz i lease a CX-7 - i threw the magazine out - trying way too hard w/ the styling. Some cars r just embarrassing to drive around in - like a Ford Fusion I used last week from Hrtz - way 2 many design things going on...I wanted to get 5% tints for the duration.

Whats with the dull silver plastic bezels on the driving lights. They couldn't spare the chrome? Satin Chrome might be an even better idea. Similar to the satin Chrome wheels on the new Ford Explorer. This would look better on the bezels.

That cheap silver plastic looks like the plastic found on a shampoo bottle.

How much do they want for this car anyways?
