SPY PHOTOS: Spies catch the first good pics of the 2008 Honda Accord Sedan
We were the first to bring you quality (non-camera-phone) photos of Hondas sporty Accord coupe, and now we have the very first pictures of the sedan!

With similar but not identical shapes, and different textures (no honeycomb grille on these sedans) it was easy to tell exactly what we were looking at in our rear-view mirror.

The new Accords will reach the production line this coming September or October, with the first shipments to dealers shortly afterwards.

Our sedans are likely all 4-cylinders, but Honda has publicly talked about more horsepower, better fuel economy, cylinder deactivation and lower emissions for the V6-powered Accord and although theres no word from Honda, were anticipating a 3.5-liter V6 with about 270-horsepower, and a 180-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder powerplant.

How dissapointing!....even the coupe wasn't all that great looking especially compared to the great job they've done with the Civic! The overall look is very 'yesterday' looking, bland and very nondescript looking. No 'appeal' at all.....compared to many great looking new sedans out there...sad. I know the quality and durability will be there but it's like they're almost afraid to put a sleek attractive body on it. Last year's was better looking.

Looks similar to the new Benz C class.

Still an improvement over the current shape, but maybe not quite as good as the Camry and Altima.

weird...

looks un-honda, more like a "asianonymous" kind of styling we usually see on hyndai's and kia's...to me, honda has never had ugly cars, but they havent had beautiful ones either...the just get the job done. But that's what this car is, just the like camry. Makes me happy cuz I want the Altima to stand out more.

Not interested in cylinder deactivation unless Honda can prove the design is fail safe even at high RPM. The engine better have DOHC.

I'll take the Camry any day.

Things might change when the tape comes off but it reminds me too much of a Kia Rio/3-series rear. Those wheels look much too small for the body. The nose is alright I guess.

Hmm, it looks very plane. With how I imagine this Accord without the camo, I say the Camry will be the winner in its class. The question that I have, why do companies come up with a very nice concept then they screw it up when they get the product out?

very disappointing. It's chunkier so it makes it looks more aggressive, but the overall styling, as many have already said, it so derivative of so many other cars out there, it's disappointing.

I honestly did not expect to be blown away, as many of you did. The coupe will be the exciting, stylish, aggressive model- I have a feeling it will put the Altima coupe to shame. But the sedan, although it retains the coupe's aggressive front end, will be for a more conservative buyer. I like it, and think it still is more interesting than the current model.

One thing I'm noticing: Honda hasn't really found its twenty-first century design language. The Civic has slitty headlights and two-tier taillights, while the Accord has a more aggressive, somewhat less-contemporary look. I'm interested to see which one prevails in the lineup.

Despite the fact that it copies so many things, i like it more than the current one. Any of you guys geeting those ridiculous honda comercials where they talk to owners that say things like "its an a accord, it IS the best car in the world" and on word for it "perfect", and my personal favorite "the ladies love it". I hate those adds, who do they think they are trying to fool. The current accord is the biggest visual naptime i have ever seen.

Typical for a Honda Sedan, yet I am suprised by the Hyundai-esque feel of it from that rear angle shot. Remnids me of an Azera in the rear end shape, with BMW 5-er Lights. Overall just more boring sedans from Honda. The coupe looks to be much better. And what is up with those Toyota Camry bugging out headlamps?? You can see them from that rear 3-qtr view...

I hope not, the TL is a good car. My dad bought one for my step mom and they love it. My mom even fell in love with it and she tried out a Volvo S80 and a Lexus IS 350 and the TL won her over as well.... Gonna be interesting to see what Honda will be doing here in the next few years. Spyshots are not impressive, but as DRWHO said we should wait for the final car and not jump at conclusion quickly, I don't think the New Accord will be any less than the Camry or Altima.

BTW Spies a new 3.5l V6 producing only 270BHP.
The current one 3.0 V6 is already producing 265-275BHP (Middle East gets 275BHP).

I think New will be close to 300BHP.

That thing looks fugly. What are these honda designers smoking. Oh well, I was in the market to buy a 2008 Accord, but it now looks like it will be either the Hyundai Sonata or Toyota Camry. I've been a Honda owner since 1989. IMHO the Hyundai Sonata exterior has much crisper styling than either the Camry or Accord.

08 Accord looks like the Discarded Saturn LS

The very first thing I saw when I looked at these spy shots was "Saturn!!!! - are they bringing back the LS?" Look at the grill and the wrapping headlights.

The last Accord I actually liked was the '90. Since then, it's proportions and detailing have gotten blander and blander with tacked on bits that have no relation to the overall design. The Accord has had a severe aesthetics problem for years now. I think the Hyundai Sonata looks a lot better

The Honda design team needs to be slapped - and hard. Honda design team, please wake up and design cars people would actually enjoy owning.
