Chinese news sites are leaking pictures of the newest version of the Lexus ES, a. k.a. suburbia's favorite luxury sedan. Set to debut at the Beijing Motor Show in April, we're getting an unexpected view of the posh and less boring new skin and interior. Is it a STUD or DUD?FULL Leaked 2013 Lexus ES Photo Gallery

Still trying digest it and imagining what it would look like in another color and under different lighting conditions. As long as no one says Lexus copied Hyundai when it's actually vice versa.— WorldofLuxury (View Profile)

It is on the Camry platform. Although AWD may be an option, it's still a Camry. And no, there is nothing wrong with the Camry, as a family car, but it cannot be called a luxury car.— skptc77 (View Profile)

Wow. That's awful-looking. Bland - just like every Toyota Camry, whoops, pardon me, Lexus ES, before it. They sure managed to bloat and fatten up that CT200h front, which is now being recycled on every Lexus it seems (GS, RX and now the ES). I can't wait for the next generation LS: I wonder what that will look like! ;-)— Willis (View Profile)

The Hyundai back is quite nice ( I can see it on the LS)but the Grille?!? I feel it sits to low on the Front Bumper...Should align more with the headlights. The back doors are completely Camry of old. oh well. im a Bimmer Guy so it doesnt offend me.— JPIBMW (View Profile)

I used to lease an ES350 and am not very impressed. The interior looks cluttered and worse than the current gen. The exterior is an improvement but still has a hint of grandma in it. — SanJoseDriver (View Profile)

oh, yes, the pasted-on lexus spindle grill. slap it on every car even if it's not cohesive with that car's design.sure, it's just like the kidney grill design that bmw has seamlessly designed into cars for 40 years.— enthusiastx11 (View Profile)

Some details are a bit off. It's a bit more bloated than the outgoing generation. The interior is nicer but i agree with the sentiments above: the front grill sits too far low on the bumper. I think it should follow the same line as the top of the headlights. Otherwise, not bad. I still dont understand where this car fits in the LEXUS lineup as they try to become sportier. — infiniti_G35c (View Profile)

That grille, in current form, does not work on that car. The grille gets a little chunky where the hood meets it, between the headlights. I can't help but think that Toyota is using that extra space to stuff something between the radiator and the grille: perhaps a F.L.I.R. system. The bigger question is whether that is an Infiniti G25 sitting next to it for comparison. If so, then Lexus maybe bringing an ES250 to selected markets.— MorePower (View Profile)

On a side note if Lexus believes the ES is a competitor to the G, they are either giving the ES far more credit that it deserves or they are seriously underrating the G. Just something to think about Infinit.— curriescorner (View Profile)

Does it matter? all of you will just hate on it anywayThis is what everyone should expect. The new grille and the new interior (as seen on the GS) - definitely an improvement over the current generation. It will sell to it's intended target market and continue to be the benchmark for the Lacrosse and and MK-whatever. TL may be FWD but it does offer a more driver-centric experience. The rear-end is especially clean, and all of you screaming Hyundai have your head up your rear because that general tail-light design was first seen on the 2008 LS in 2007. BMW liked it so much that they decided to put the similar "L" and "reverse L" light strips on their redesigned cars. Funny they looked to Lexus for inspiration. Just try and refute that, I dare you.— M35MT (View Profile)

FYI: That is the new GS sitting next to it, not the Infiniti G. The ES is not a G competitor and I dont think Lexus regards it as such. The ES works as a TL, Lacrosse, Maxima competitor but definitely not in G, 3-series, or C-class range.Anyway, i actually dont think an ES250 or ES270 is such a bad idea. The leaked shots of the new RX show it being an RX270 as well. While underpowered, this would allow Lexus to bring the price down a bit and sell more units.— infiniti_G35c (View Profile)
