Brilliant!!!!

Audi is surely going to get noticed with that old guy screaming and the R8 with its LEDs and wonderful exhaust note accelerating right out of an elegant palace!!!

Mercedes take note: You are now going to have to watch your back in worldwide global sales within the next 5 years.

Audi and its new R8 along with its product blitz are HERE.

I like the R8. I saw one a few weeks ago. It gives off a Bat-Mobile presence.

great commercial...but, the R8 does'nt really need any adverts, i mean who does'nt know it..its sold out. they should have made a commercial for the new A8 or A4. just my opinion

The commercial is about Audi and features it's top product.

Talli, the R8 is the very definition of a halo product meant to enhance the overall perception of the brand. It's not about selling more R8s. It's about creating a sense of excitement around the brand that will, in theory, trickle down to more mainstream models like the A4. It's why many brands are willing to invest millions in R&D in a halo vehicle that doesn't always make an immediate profit, but pays dividends down the road. Think Ford GT, Acura NSX, Mercedes SLR, etc.

The Mercedes Slr really didn't bring the brand preception of mercedes up as it brought the perception of the McLaren Team Down...

The commercial really shows the presence that their surpassing with this whole Maybach/Benz oldschool uncontemporary definition of Lux.

[although mercedes owned 40 percent of mclaren] Its obvious McLaren wasn't to indecicive or remorsefull towards the split. The Sl gullwing is mercedes halo car. deboosting for honesty in majority? c'mon now

What a waste of money and generally ineffective..

The commercial was slightly clever but way too long. We caught it during the game, most people at the superbowl party lost interest in the first 10 seconds. The guy was ugly, the grille was ugly, anybody under 39 yrs old would have no idea they were referring to the Godfather movies and the horse in bed scene.

I repeat, a big waste of money. Audi marketing just keeps missing the boat..its a shame b/c their products are great.

What girl?

And maybe your house lost interest, but where I was, everyone loved it. Some of the ignorants even tried to show their "insider knowledge" by saying, "I hear that's actually a nice car."

previously, i was under the impression that the best commercial ever, by definition would involve a monkey. monkeys can sell anything. i was wrong. thanks audi.

So nobody under 39 will understand the reference? Good. because no one under 39 will be able to purchase the car.

Of course that is a scene taken from The Godfather, but instead of a horse's head in his bed it was a front end of some old car.

lol

Same reaction here... I already knew what was coming, having seen the commercial but there were a few guys that had nothing to say but "WOW" I think the noise got their man blood pumping...

Bama, Audi and BMW owners are a different demographic than Lexus. Most Lexus/Infiniti/Acura buyers feel they are getting more value, reliabity, etc. Considering Audi S7 or S8 in 2009. A hybrid? Never

Great ad.. The R8 needs way more time than a commercial could give it to really give you a sense of what the car is capable of.. This teases you just enough to wanna get on Audi's site and find out everything you can. Well done

Hmmmm.. "New Luxury" sounds abit like arrogant marketing speak... I'd still consider an RR Phantom to be more luxurious than an R8, and sticking "New" on the front won't change that. It sounds more like Audi are trying to avoid competing directly with other manufacturers that claim to offer luxury, by saying "yeah but you're old luxury, we're new luxury".

Personally I still think it was a waste of money. I'm 29, can't afford an R8, love Godfather 1 & 2, and see it as a missed opportunity. If Audi really did spend that much on the rights then they could have done something slightly more interesting with the ad.... or saved their money and just had 3 seconds of the R8 revving it's engine, as that was the best part of the ad!!!

Also, I watched the Super bowl from start to finish... (not easy here in the UK!) and I didn't see this ad, because I watched most of it on BBC2 instead of Sky Sports 1!!!

Also, I've been telling my mates tom petty rocks for years, and they'd never heard of him, :) best half time show in years.

Well done Giants!!!!!
