I like your list on a whole with a big exception to the Acura RL. I was going to leave my comments to the side on this one, but you have got to be kidding me. The RL is one of the most under appreciated cars on the market. I will put the RL against ANYTHING on the road for 55k or under.
As for my list:
10-15k sedan Chevy Aveo
15-25k sedan Chevy Malibu
25-35k sedan Lincoln LS/zephyr (whatever theyre calling that turd)
35-45k sedan Cadillac CTS
45k and up sedan Cadillac STS
as for trucks, women drive lexus RX's and not trucks

lol, you are calling the Acura RL overpriced? If you want overpriced look at BMW and Mecedes Benz. The RL is worlds better than 80% of the car population. Just because it's not as good as the rest of the cars Acura has in its lineup, doesn't make it a bad car.

The RL is one of the best engineered cars on the market. It just needs to get a little more agressive styling and a V8 which DOES NOT make it a bad car because it's lacking in those areas. You're BS 001.

The 7 Series has not beaten the A8 in a single comparison test. Not ONE. It's practically common sense that it's simply a better car. It looks better, is a few leaps ahead in interior execution, drives just as well and... well, it's better.

The XJ is an unappreciated gem. You don't know much about it, obviously, but it drives better than the 7 Series.

WORST CARS:

Volkswagen New Beetle - it's old already. Volkswagen has milked this car for all it's worth and it's just getting annoying now.

Hyundai Tiburon - it's not a sports car. Hyundai claims it is, but no self respecting sports car has a 172 horsepower V6 as the most powerful engine.

Saturn Ion - are you kidding me? This car may have looked good in the late 80's or early 90's, but this car looked outdated since it first came out. It was old news before you could buy it.

Chevrolet Malibu Maxx - a station wagon in disguise.

Toyota Prius - it's a fine car, but it's started a hippie movement. I can't go anywhere without tree huggers telling me I need to repent and drive a hybrid.

WORST TRUCKS:

Mazda Truck - this isn't really good for anything. It's not powerful, so there's not much you can tow with it and it's got a small interior, so having people with you is a pain.

Lincoln Mark LT - owners of this are too scared to treat this like a truck because it's a "luxury" truck. Trucks are meant to be rugged and owners of these are too old to be rugged or too scared of hurting their slightly upscale F-150.

Ford Explorer Sport Trac - small bed. Not very useful to have.

Cadillac Escalade EXT - same as Lincoln Mark LT

Mitsubishi Raider - I just picked this one because I can't think of any more trucks that have problems. This one has a minor one that I'll point out: it's got a V8 engine and the truck is too small to put it to use. Usually with this size of truck, a large V6 is as far as you want to go because the frame of the truck is too small to tow anything major. It's a minor problem, but not a big deal really.

i agree with the mark lt, its nothing more than a ford f150 with lincoln badges, and some extra chrome literally. there is no reason it shouldnt be used as a truck the escalade ext is more for someone who doesnt really need a truck but would like the extra usability of one, as well as the extra space to me it makes alot more sense.

Yeah, but owners of the Escalade EXT don't use the extra usability of a truck. In fact, most of them just get it to show off to their friends and "pimp it out".

The Prius is faulted because of the behaviors of their owners?

New Beetle? Tiburon? Both of those are very good performers and you seem to dislike them on image alone. That's not the criterion for a bad car.

vdivvdiv - 10/19/2007 11:36:31 AM
-2 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
Uhm, sports cars are not only about horse power, they are first and foremost about handling. The Tiburon handles better than most Lexi and Toyotas hands down.

Just ask Jeremy Clarkson and his comparo of the lexus SC and the Tiburon :)

If you have a sports car, you need power to use it. I don't want to buy an underpowered sports car because it handles well, I want power with it. The Tiburon is lacking power.

Because honestly, RSX drivers think they're bad because they have an Acura, hoping that the general public don't know that they're, in some cases, cheaper than a Civic. Plus, they buy them to turn them into a rice rocket. I like the Civic Si a lot more than the RSX.

WORST CARS:
VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE-out dated and not classic
PT Cruiser-Still a Neon under the skin
All Caddilac cars- GM does not get the details consistently right to compete with Euro and Asian makers
Dodge Avenger- not sure why they made this

Trucks:
Caddilac Trucks- I hope the badges and chrome stick really good, someone might notice it's not a caddy.
H2,H3 More bad ideas in production.
Lincoln Trucks - too much 60s DNA
Ford Sport Track over engineered, bad result
Ford/Mazda small pickups from the 80's- they still make these?

My Point (since you obviously didn't get it) :They're both obviously made to very exacting standards, and that attention to detail is evident in every aspect of their design/manufacturing/execution.

+2 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
Alright, Brandon, I will. Just for you.

Ironically, the reason the Cayenne V6(!, not the whole model line) is on there is because of a BMW. I drove the '07 X5 4.8i and the '08 Cayenne S on the same day... I was super-impressed with the BMW's handling, exhaust note, acceleration, luxury and perfect comfort/sportiness balance. On the other hand, the Porsche was underwhelming with its relatively cheap interior, overpriced features, unexciting demeanor and an overall disappointing execution. I've read so many raving reviews on the thing, and I have driven the Cayenne V6 and Cayenne S before (both '06s)--none of them have impressed me, not in the least. But I didn't have the heart to put the eight-cylinder models on the "worst SUVs" list.

As for the 7 Series? This was another BMW dealership experience. I drove the 535xi on another day, and again, very impressive. Smooth, powerful engine, very comfortable interior (much improved for '08!), better styling and a level of competence that I haven't seen come from the E-Class or A6. Then, when we got back to the dealer I sat in the 7 Series... and it felt cheap. Just underwhelming. The 5 Series handily beats it in interior execution. One more thing... notice my second post in this thread? The 7 Series isn't a bad car, not at all. But I would take any of the competition over it in a heartbeat.

Woah I've obviously been away for awhile. I'm reading through some of the posts suprised to see the same people with some very different opinions.

The one that caught me most of gaurd was the opinion shared by S4. Since when do you hate the 7-series so much? I can recall you saying you'd have the most difficult time choosing between the 3 major German luxo-barges, in which I'm sure you know I'm talking about.

Now you're talking down on the 7-series like you did the LS when it was released. Which is it S4?

+1 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
I don't "hate" the 7. It's just the worst car in its class. I know that doesn't mean much--if there's any class you have to be "worst" in, it's that one--but I just wouldn't waste my money on it. Sitting in it at the dealer was an eye-opener.

The Saturn Sky is VERY nice and Saturn's suv's have come a long way in the styling segment. I have actually considered purchasing both a saturn SUV and a Sky.

one car that should be on the list is the:

Mazda RX8 -- fun to drive & great styling, but to many complaints/recalls/problems

That doesn't make it the worst. If reliability was the only criterion, we'd have Range Rovers on all of our lists. But the RX-8 is still a sweet car that has no place here.

True, everyone has a different idea of what a good car and also a bad one. I guess to be truly bad it would have to be unsafe, uncomfortable, unreliable, have poor build quality and look terrible. Mine would have to be the Ssangyong Rodius: http://tinyurl.com/35gs8l
Don't think it's sold in America though?

Worst Cars:

American stuff bar Corvette

Worst Trucks:

American stuff bar Tahoe (it's an honest, practical SUV. You get what it says on the tin)

Dude, The American Revolutionary War was fought way back 1775–1783...

America Won, Please - Let It Go Already!

I have forgotten more about English cars than this poster knows about American cars. This negative opinion of American cars is worthless. To blanket bash vehicles, one should have SOME experience driving them.

Well if we were including cars that aren't sold new anymore....

Anything from BMC
All Rovers
The old Freelander
Old Discovery

Other terrible cars as well:
Jag X type
Jag S type
Ssangyongs in general
Korean Chevrolets (which we get in Europe)
The VW Fox.
Protons.

And fine, as for good cars, add the new CTS.

The rest of Americana is all rubbish. Name a good one!? Ford Focus? DTS? The Dodge Nitro? Yeah, sure. All others are far from best in class. It's no wonder Toyota's doing so well. Decades of under engineering take their toll. Think of Lincoln or Chrysler or Mercury or Jeep! What happened to their glorious history? Their reputations? Cadillac's recovering, but still...

I'm not being anti-American or whatever, and saying I'm bitter about the revolutionary war? I of course care that much about the 200 year old past that I'm campaigning against American cars now? They used to be great! 50's Cadillacs, 60's Lincolns! Pierce Arrows, Duesenburgs, Studebakers! They have just completely lost the plot...like I said, name 1 American car that you can say is best in its class. You can't.

Bloody rubbish English food? You stuck in the 70s, along with GM and Ford? And of course, American food is so exciting and not bland or vanilla at all. I mean McDonalds is just the height of good eating...

And I think if you look at everyone else's posts, you'll see a large quantity are American. They only sell them to Americans for a reason: nobody else wants them.

I agree with the 4 door Wrangler. I do, however, love the 2 door version :)
