Saturn's new Camry and Accord Rival
Opel gave us a preview of the styling direction for the new Vectra sedan when it unveiled the GTC Concept car back at March’s Geneva Motor Show. There’s a lot of significance riding on this model because this is the car that will be sold in the US as the next-gen Saturn Aura and it may even make it to other markets where GM cars are sold such as Australasia and South America. 2011? Its too late...the Camry will have been re-designed by then and there will be new models from Hyundai, Kia, Mazda and a new Accord in 2012. They seriously expect to sell the current Aura till 2011 and then re design it? How do they expect to survive?

They did the same thing with their SL model line. They are very slow to react to the market trend. They may be up on the chopping block with Hummer too.

Looks good, but can she dance? The last Vectra looked ok, accelerated great, but understeered like a champ.

generally fast means 0-60 in 5sec or under and quarter mile of 13sec or under.

My wife drives an '07 Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid, and other than the fact that the hybrid gives no real benefit over this vehicle with a standard four banger (which is not available), it competes very well with Camry and Accord. The next generation seems to step up the styling and will probably compete well with the next generation Camry/Accord. I don't quite get the comment stating that "it can't compete".

It can't compete in relation to what aspect?

I just wished we had waited it out until GM releases the Saturn Aura diesel that will sport a 2.9 V-6, Italian-built from VVM that will get over 200 horsepower, almost 400 lbs of torque, and will get about 35 mpg. It will beat the hybrid in all categories, from performance to environmental friendliness. Oh yeah! It will be alternative-fuel capable right out of the box with a superior, alternative fuel that those offered for gas-powered cars.
