Seeing An Old Press Car Is Like Seeing An Old Friend — Famous Aston Martin Vanquish Up For Sale

The folklore behind what happens to press cars after their time is great. Some say they're crushed, others say that they're parted out, and, if I am honest, I'd say we generally don't know.

Let's cut to the chase, these public relations departments are not always being forthcoming.

Now when you're talking about small volume automakers, it turns out the cars get turned around and resold out to an eager public. I believe about a handful of organizations do this, but I cannot confirm. Well, I can for one manufacturer now. That would be Aston Martin.

At the 2014 Vanquish drive event there were about a handful of Vanquishes for us to sample. All were unique in their own way but there was a specific pair that caught everyone's attention. One was matte orange and the other was this pastel blue that drew tons of attention.

It was already a famous car by the time I got to it. That's because it had just underwent filming with the BBC's Top Gear crew — you know, the proper one — with James May behind the wheel fleeing for the Mexican border.

In addition, it also was used in the production of an episode of Jay Leno's Garage.

But forget about those guys, I had the chance to drive it! That should increase the resale, alone.

I kid. Aston probably should have burned the seats. ;)

After spending approximately one year making the rounds of the press fleet, this uniquely blue Aston boasts just over 11,800 miles and is now located up in Calgary if you want to get your hands on it.
