Skyline Reborn? First Test-Drive Of The 450HP Nissan GT-R
During the three-day track assault, lucky Nissan personnel were asked to get behind the wheel of the other two vehicles before taking control of the GT-R.
The course involved a 100 MPH slalom (nothing about the spacing of the cones), high speed braking tests and bombing the banked oval track. According to Car Top's source, the new GT-R felt as if it were producing upwards of 450 HP, and that the suspension was incredibly stable at sustained high-speeds (the limiter was apparently removed).
The braking power provided by the Brembo units supposedly, "has to be experienced first hand" and the seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox was smooth, fast and maybe even better than VW's own DSG setup.

Oh, I find Porsches absolutely gorgeous. The 911 is the most beautifully timeless design on the road. But Ferraris are twice the price of a Carrera S and should not be compared. They are along the lines of Aston Martin and Lamborghini, with according beauty.

gsh23. You're almost correct. EL34's OC Republican. He was tapping the C class coupe's lower sill and touching the lower rear fender when the plainsclothes Merc rep came and asked him what he was doing.

Why is it that Japanese cars never get inflaming headlines semi-attacking German brands on this site?
"Has the Porsche 911 Met its Match?"
I think it's appropriate here.

Yeah sure the GT-R is nice, but the ultimate question is, will it be able to run with the Lexus IS-F?

About time the Japs finally screw their gentlemen agreements, and pump out some really high HP cars.
This car looks like it should ! Not spectacular or the best ever seen, but very nice and sharp. Im digging it.
If the new skyline is anything near as good as the older R-34 its allready a born legend.
Bring on the Skyline Vs Porsche 911 TT shootouts :)

I think it is odd that the car will have seven variations with nineteen different engine maps. With a history of throwing multiple variants it should not to a suprise to me. If this is the case I do not like the fact all of the discussion is wrapped around in one car. When people are discussing the 911 Carrera its either the 'base' trim or the Carrera S. When people talk about the GT2, we call it the GT2 in the discussion, rarely just 911. I guess without knowledge of what the names of the variations will be, I guess it is hard to make seperate topics for each one so it is all lumped into one topic. I just hope the ridiculously long names do not return but if they do I guess I shouldn't be suprised either. I wouldn't want to hear someone tell me they just bought their 'GT-R Spec X Tsukuba Special Stupidly Long Name Type Dhuuuuur' the other day. I find those name tedious rather than enthralling.
With the speculation of technologies and engine packages what about one of the most understated but vital nonetheless tire options? A quick car cannot be its best if it does not have proper rubber underneath it. Will tire manufacturers have specially developed compounds? Pirelli PZero Corsa Systems or P Zero Neros? Michelin Sport Cups or Sports SP2s? BF Goodrich g-Force T/As? Bridgestone Potenza S-02s or whatever high performance tire they have in their catalog?
It is interesting that tire manufacturers get the shaft all the time but the performance of the car is dependent on its rubber. How often do you read reviews stating the tires are not up to snuff or lack the feedback it should have and possibly the other tire option may be the best choice of the lot? I guess it depends if the car is already equipped with the potential maximizing compound. But his is vital information for those who will buy this type of vehicle yet where are the details?

Your comment seemed informed and intelligently stated. You're obviously a thinker who doesn't blindly tag along with the "majority" simply because you lack the confidence to stand out on your own. I just wish more people on this board had the maturity to engage in sensible and constructive discussions.
