I can tell you that I was impressed with the clean and graceful styling of the Iacocca Edition ‘Stang when I first saw it.
This semi-coachbuilt coupe (body by Gaffoglio) is to be limited to just forty-five examples (hence, the anniversary link).
Problem we see is the astonishing price tag: $90,000. Now, we’ll say that the Iacocca looks sharper than your run-of-the-mill overpriced tuner pony (cough…Saleen…cough…), but ninety grand for a Ford coupe with a live-axle, 320 hp V-8, and mere 5-spd. manual is a lot to ask for.
Media whore and profiteer Keith Martin proclaimed the Iacocca special to be destined as a future classic.
That pretty has sealed our disfavor.
