Son crashes dad’s Ferrari, calls home to report the bad news
How many times have you called home and said “Dad I just got in a car accident. I’m okay but the car just got totaled.” Most of the time your father would come right away to help you out and make sure you’re not hurt. But what happens when you call home and say “Dad I just totalled your Ferrari.”

A son had to make that call this past weekend on Saturday after destroying the front of his father’s F360 Challenge Straddle, one of just 16 imported in Australia and New Zealand in 2004.

The crash took place on Batman Avenue where the...

If he crashed an LF-A, I'd be like "Wow, how did you crash a car that doesn't exist?"

Yeah, I would slap him silly too!! If I were his Dad and he crashed my IS-F, I would slap him and say "Why did you call me??? Now everyone knows I am a loser for owning such a crappy car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reasonable Dad - "That's okay son, Mom & I are just glad you weren't hurt. Just come on home and we'll have some hot chocolate for you."

This Dad - "Wife, where's my 357 Magnum?"

This is what happens when show-off kid, who can barely drive, get into car like Ferrari.

Get a Prius...
What a waste...

I only agree with you because you put "Prius" and "a waste" in the same sentence.. What are you even doing on this website if you don't appreciate cars?

But...
On the other hand, if his dad let him drive the car, one of just 16 cruising around Australia, he probably does not care much, because letting teenager drive Ferrari is almost the same as letting baby play with ancient chinese vase.

Kid probably does not care much neither. For him it is just another expensive daddy's toy he broke. Doesn't matter whether it is F360 Challenge Straddle or Bugatti Veyron.

2 days after I got my first Audi A4 I took some friends out so show it off and totaled it... never a fun call home. Good thing I, just like this guy, had insurance and it really wasn't that big of a deal. We actually got such a good deal on the car we made about 4 grand when they payed us for it.

Oops, I did an Agent001. The A4 is replaceable rather* You can't just go to a dealer and pick one of these up!

Valid point, this probably isn't the easiest car in the world to re-acquire.. Now he just has an excuse to pick up an F430 and dump that crappy 360! Haha..

If you can afford the F360 CS, then totalling it means absolutely nothing..
In fact it is probably a good thing as it only amplifies the fact that you have so much moola that your kid can go out and total the sucker..

I would never, ever, ever let my son drive my Ferrari in the first place. I hesitate before handing him the keys to the S4... he got all three of his speeding tickets in my previous A6.

What a waste... Why buy something if no one can enjoy it? Ferrari's are made to be driven and used, not sitting in a garage to look at. At the end of the day it's just a car.. It's not like we're talking about a private jet, boat, or something with a little more substance (and cost)..

What a jerk, this kid crashed the beautiful Ferrari for his pathetic foolery of showing off. This is the problem with our society, most of us people who love a ferrari with our mind, body, and soul never get to drive one, and some pesky little brat with a millionaire father and no understanding of driving gets to drive the exotic and crash it. God is so unfair.

You'd think these Ferrari owners would know better than to let their kids drive these cars. It seems like over half the Ferrari wrecks are by kids.

@charlik05
have you ever driven a ferrari ?
i dont think so otherwise you would be flying over a cliff! once you lose control of a ferrari its hard to regain it specialy on high speeds.

umm...I have, and they're built for high speed and performance. It's not like they come with no airbags and poor brakes.

ANY car is hard to reel in at high speeds, it's not like a Ferrari is inadequate because it only focuses on going fast.

well fatboi,

actually i have driven formula 1 cars. Also a Ferrari 348,355,360, porsche 911 turbo S, new M5, new M6, 850csi dinan, should i keep going?

the reason for for my comment was if take into the account of how many crashes have been reported in the last year of Enzo's and 430's, you would see that too many are being crashed.

Also that is not a 150mph crash. that at most is a 60mph crash. If you can't control a car at 60 then you should not be driving a car meant to perform at 200.

I have seen 100+ crashes and no one walked away to call home.

You guys are all really jealous... How do u know that the kid is not a professional driver, or how do u know that the kid did not buy it for his father as a gift... How do u even know that the kid is 16 years old?? Lucky for him that he was born into a wealthy family and thank god that he is ok... When I'll have children, ill give them the keys to my cars, just like my dad gives me the keys to his car... Its all abt trust, and if u guys are not even going to trust ur children for a stupid car, than u all *&*%#$ ...

At leats the kids ok, I bet he wishes his dad owned an F430 which is much more safer with better traction controls etc, he might not have crashed it....see specs on that pressportal website: http://www.pressportal.com.au/news/352/ARTICLE/1878/2008-02-20.html
