good idea BMW is speading its brand too thin, with future X1, and a new mini styled car, they should bring back triumph, BMW has done good jobs with Mini, Rolls Royce and Land Rover- when they had land rover.

I would love to see the Triumph brand revived, but I hope that they make it in England like Mini - who wants a Chinese car with an MG logo on it?
There is a potential problem for BMW, however. The new Triumph could cannibalize sales of their own Z4, unless of course they price it cheap to compete with the Mazda Miata, Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky.
Larry is right about BMW spreading its parent brand too thin. It should use its Mini brand as its entry-level "Ultimate Driving Machine", use BMW to cover the upmarket segment, and leave the super-luxury segment to Rolls-Royce. Forget about buying Jaguar - it competes directly with their own BMW brand. And forget about buying a mass-market company like Volvo - BMW is not about building bland family cars. (Who needs another Oldsmobile or Plymouth?) All of the cars under the BMW corporate umbrella should be innovative, state-of-the-art technically, and fun to drive like BMW and Mini. (The only mass-market company that could fit into such an organization would be Citroen.)

Triumph could not only do roadsters but mid stream 4dr sedans below BMW. In fact Triumph did orignally produce sedans like the Dolomite etc. back in the 60's and 70's.Triumph could be positioned to easily compete with with Ford,VW,Fiat etc.
