guess big ugly grills are the new thing. They are trying to be like acura

I hope they dont implement this grill across their lineup like they did for the grills on all the acuras.

I hate that grille also and now I know what the H in the middle stands for: it looks like Hell.

Last model Pilot had a waiting list. CR-V is flying off the shelves. Honda's resale value is as usual dominated by the Hondas.

Having said that, Pilot's grill was a bit of inspirational. The designers actually took some risk to look very distinctive. For example, how many other cars have such a distinctively visual grill on the road? NONE! Honda designers have plans.....

I agree. That grill does need some work, and I hate to say this, but the sides have a Jeep Liberty kind of look. I hope I'm wrong when I see it in person.

I'd rather buy some chicken wire, cut it to fit the grille dimensions and have it chrome plated and substitute it for the existing grille.

Honda's success obviously stems from their name, engineering, reputation and NOT their designs. I'm a big fan of Honda, but their vehicle designs need an identity, and an attractive one at that! PLEASE Honda!!!

The Honda Accord redesign has been somewhat controversial. Some people like it, some people don't. I actually really like the new design. Having said that, first they showed the 2009 RL makeover, then the TSX redesign, and now this. This has got to be the ugliest SUV on the market. I would love to be a fly on the wall when Honda's decision makers decided to go forward with this design. What a complete joke.

Aw, crap, they're using the "deer in headlights" concept and bringing it to production... I saw it at the Chicago auto show in February, and I was not impressed. In fact, I'm scared. This is coming from a Honda fan.

They desperately need new designers.

Let's face it, nice or ugly, this is a step in the wrong direction for HONDA. How long are they going to keep this up? Yes the new Accord is nice, but overall nothing to be proud of, same is true for the Civic and the rest of the line up for that matter. As a HONDA fan it's hard to feel that their glory days are in the past. What ever happened to the innovative, and cutting edge company that concieved VTEC in the late 80's, built a 120hp/liter NA motor, and most of all were fun and affordable. Nowadays we are to choose from a rotten buffet table of inadequate SOHC motors, designs evidently inspired by Pixar studios, and all the while more expensive prices. How many ways can you cook a potatoe and how long will fans like myself keep buying them based on logical reason. Not long at all, as a matter of fact those Hyundaisare looking pretty darn good!

Does anyone agree with me that the "new" Pilot looks like a super-sized Honda Element? Not much imagination there by Honda designers. The Element has been a slow seller from the get-go. I even had a Honda salesman tell me it is "damn ugly". If Honda wanted to copy one of their other vehicles they should have "super-sized" the CR-V. As for the grill on this beast I agree it is ugly but remember it didn't take Honda long to offer an accessory grill to the Ridgeline (another slow seller).

Most folks on this site are charged with unfounded, brand-loyal emotion and this anti-intellectual behavior makes these discussions quite annoying to fair-minded individuals.

The pro-Honda folks will come on here and post that Honda is God and all their products are made of gold no matter what the facts of the article(s) reveal. On the other hand, the anti-Honda folks will come on here and state that every product is crap, even if Honda has created a 300-hp, full-size van that runs on water!

Personally, I clicked on this link hoping to find that Honda would release a 3.0-liter i-DTEC (diesel) with the introduction of the 2009 model.

Well, there is always 2010. Previous readings reveal that the Pilot might be the first Honda/Acura get a six cylinder diesel that is still under development.
