Based on the platform of the next generation 5-Series, the large coupe like hatchback is sure to raise an eyebrow at competitor headquarters. When the upcoming vehicle was first discussed by journalists worldwide, UK’s car magazine wrote in January 2004, that it was believed to be a direct competitor for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz R-Class (2005 global launch). However, since then, clearer spy images indicate that the car will be taking a different approach than the luxury MPV capabilities of the Mercedes-Benz.

Talk says that the car will be positioned to size between a 5-Series and a 7-Series which will seat only four occupants. The rear seats will be fully adjustable with small tables dropping down from the back of the drivers and front passengers seats.

The ‘PAS’, production name still to be announced, looks like it will be creating a new niche segment of its own once on sale approximately 12 months from now.

Awesome! sounds like its gonna be pretty luxurious to me
I wouldn't be too worried about its sporty-ness...leave that to BMW. They know what they're doing with this car, or else, why would the make it despite having the X6, which also only has 4 seats.

Staar, you are such a douche bag. "The X6 is a failure"... What reports have you been reading. My BMW dealership can't keep them in stock because they are selling so fast.

Oh, and by the way I have owned 4 BMW's and currently have one now and none of them have been "Cheap plastic tin-can failures. They have been the best built and most durable autos I've owned over the years. The MB sucked, the Lex sucked, the Acura sucked, the only other one that could compare to the BMW's on some level was the Audi. The Audi was superb.

Make a list of the cars you have owned so we know you base your statements on facts and not douche bag statements, like every other comment you leave on this site.

The Infiniti QX Armada is a joke. The C pillar/roofline is out of proportion.

The Infiniti is just a rebadged Armada and we all know that. I don't see how a BMW is an econobox. What car do you drive to think of a BMW as an economy brand (which it isn't). What you think it is? a Toyota?

Fartrules do not have a heart attack defending your precious god,I have owned 3 BMWs and so far on my 08 M3 DCT i have had the tranny replaced at 1700 miles, various electronic glitchs that still plague the car after 4000 miles and now to top it all off the car suddenly stalls for no apparent reason and has been in the shop for past 3 weeks. Now i drive around my 05 E320 which has been running like a rolex since day 1.When i get the car back if any problem still persists i will get a lawyer and file for the California lemon law.My pervious car was a 2007 335i vert and i traded that for the 08 M3 because i had allways wanted a M3 which has turned into nightmare.BMW make great engines but the rest of the car is up to standards of the price tag of the car and the service is below that of GM.

PrancingHorse: Honestly , I am not BMW fan , but is realy hard to belive in what you say....and sadly in this case, you got the lemon, I hope everything is fixed this time and you can enjoy your car but if the car is so bad and you are a BMW loyal cutomer, get a BMW 335 turbo.

If you really have trouble believing my problems go to m3post.com and you will see many other people with the same issues as my 08.The stall problem is extremely dangerous because it has happened to me in a very busy and dangerous intersection with my 6 yr old niece in the backseat and the car does not start with the 1st try. These issues are prevalent with a large group of owners but a lot of them worship the badge and for me spending $80,000 on a car i expect it to be at least safe.I traded in a 335i vert so why would i trade down.

My Mom has a 2000 BMW 325 wagon with almost 100,000 miles on it and many friends that own a wide range of BMW models and most of them have been flawless from day one. My mom has never had one problem with her car other than a power window failure on the passenger side and BMW issued a recall for that problem.

One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch pal...

It doesn't matter if it is one car. The fact is the one car that you own is the one that matters most, and the one you build your experience around. I could care less what someone else's experience maybe if my one car is a nightmare.

I totaly agree with you VISO I had and Audi S4 which I couldnt stand, it was at the dealer more than it should have been with costly repairs. The whole experiene gave me a bad tast for Audi, i will never buy one again. I now happily drive a new m3, which has been a very pleasent experience, and dynamicly is worlds better imo, I would never consider an audi in the futer.

FactsRule : One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch pal...you are right, However PrancingHorse is paying for car that is very exclusive and not so cheap as everybody wish. He deserve at least, a very good service and is not getting it, so we have to understand his feelings.

People may think what they want about BMW.. but other makers have some how always take from BMW in different ways. They still set new standards with every car. I have had numerous BMW's and no reliability issuses... my X5 is an amazing car. But there new cars are always straying a little further from what bmw use to be but it always grows on me.
