Based on the platform of the next generation 5-Series, the large coupe like hatchback is sure to raise an eyebrow at competitor headquarters.
When the upcoming vehicle was first discussed by journalists worldwide, UK’s car magazine wrote in January 2004, that it was believed to be a direct competitor for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz R-Class (2005 global launch). However, since then, clearer spy images indicate that the car will be taking a different approach than the luxury MPV capabilities of the Mercedes-Benz.
Talk says that the car will be positioned to size between a 5-Series and a 7-Series which will seat only four occupants. The rear seats will be fully adjustable with small tables dropping down from the back of the drivers and front passengers seats.
The ‘PAS’, production name still to be announced, looks like it will be creating a new niche segment of its own once on sale approximately 12 months from now.
