Spied: 2010 Mercedes E63 AMG
These latest spy shots from Germany reveal the 2009 Mercedes E63 AMG in closer detail than ever. Benz’s next super-saloon, also depicted above in Autocar’s exclusive rendered image, will be powered by the company’s 6.2-litre V8 when it debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show in autumn 2009 and should offer in excess of 550bhp.

However, Autocar has also learnt that a debate has been raging between Mercedes bosses over the continued use of the big-bore V8 in the face of increasingly stringent emissions laws. Many at Benz are concerned that BMW is getting the upper hand in the race to go green, thanks to technology like its Efficient Dynamics systems. AMG has plans to clean up its act with future models, which will feature turbocharged smaller-capacity engines, diesel motors and even hybrid tech. The E63 could even be the company’s last new big-bore super saloon.

This isnt an AMG. I read a previous article that showed pictures of the rear and its clear that by looking at them we are not talking about an AMG.

I am however very confident that this will be the new E550

True. Front bumper looks too "soft", unless ofcourse this is a part of the camo.

Yes I also agree. This is a normal European "spec" E Class..........

The design looks exactly as I expected. Since Mercedes relies on this model the most in terms of sales, I had a feeling they would be very careful during redesign. The one thing they can't mess up this time is the interior. From what I've heard, most owners are a little disappointed with the quality of materials and lack of modern technology in the current model. It better be nice, because the current interior just isn't up to Mercedes standard.

Also, Im referring to the regular E-class, not the AMG model.

After seeing the new CL, C, SL...etc it looks like MB finally discontinued the traditonal/usual twin round/oval headlamps design. And this new E headlamps as rumoured for more than 2 years now, look like those of Lexus GS(twin squarish headlamps).

btw that doesn't look like AMG kit but the regular one.

looks like many can't see/accept that MB almost totally discontinued the twin round headlmaps trend/design. Prove is all new CL, C, SL don't have them unlike their predecessors. And looks like even E class will come without the four round headlamps design. This new E class's headlamps look like Lexus GS's(square four headlmaps).

This is definitely a car you would want to have in your garage as a keeper, especially if the 6.2L is the last big normally aspirated engine that AMG will produce.

I want to see how it turns out because I think the current E63 is a real looker, with its oval headlights, but am willing to see what the next gen looks like before I make my final assessment. Either way, one of them is going to be in my garage.

I was a passenger in an E63 the other day, and I felt blessed to be a firewall away from that engine. Thank you AMG...Thank You
