Spied: Lexus GS facelifted
The exterior styling of the current model Lexus GS sedan has been essentially unchanged since the car was introduced for the 2004 model year. Now this prototype, photographed just recently in Europe, gives an indication that Lexus is working on a styling facelift.
While most styling updates include freshening of all the front and rear styling, this prototype is showing only a revised front bumper. Note the subtly reshaped lower air inlet in the center, and the taller openings on either side which now better match the center opening in height. It is likely that this new bumper will be part of an overall freshening which will include new grille, headlights, taillights, etc. once the styling update is completed.

I like the current look very much. Can't really tell much from the camo.

Yes, every 5-spoke wheel is a copy of the "W211" sport rims. In fact, Carl Benz INVENTED the 5-spoke rim.
For the rest of the non-cracked out Kabimbos, here is a picture of the rims he is talking about. Notice how Lexus copied the 5-spoke part... haha(?)...

I can see slight differences: more aggressive front bumper, new rims. Rear is the same, although I wish they'd clean it up a little. Still looks very good; hope they get rid of the standard GS350 rims for these.

I hope they bring back the inherently well balanced in-line six engine.

they look like the telios rims, or those found on the X package of the IS. perhaps the GS is getting an x package?
or just new rims perhaps

I think it's just new rims.
But the "Teleios" wheels look nothing like these. They have six or so spokes, and they're available on the LS460.

The current GS came out for the 2006 model year in early 2005.

The only difference I notice are the signal lights on the side mirrors. But that's the only thing that's really supposed to change. I did hear they were supposed to change the tail lights, but I don't see a difference.

refresh for the 6th model year (2009)?
lexus is really stretching some of its models despite low sales volume...GS, SC, old LX.
isn't it time for a new car?

well, considering this brand new design came out in 2006, and is the first refresh in year 3, that would be no.

6-year refresh? What are you talking about? It will get redesigned at the six-year mark.
And the LX470 has actually still sold very well. Until the GL450 and Q7 4.2 S-Line came out, it was my favorite seven-seat SUV.
SC... don't bother.

The original GS was designed by Giugiaro. The recent versions look really weird, out of proportion, I wouldn't worry about facelifting, just scrap the whole thing and re-commission I.D.E.A of Italy.
Works for the most successful Chinese and Korean competition, why wouldn't work for Toyota. BTW, the LS is the same story.

I bet the wheels all come from the same guy. The 2001 X5 4.4 and Acura MDX have basically identical wheel designs.

I've seen these on the MDX, but don't remember the X5 having them. It's had those interesting snowflake-style rims (BMW calls them star-spoke).

The only difference is the brand cast in the middle. The wheel must not have been very popular because both makers stopped using them a year or two after.

From this angle, I'd say the GS wheels resemble the chrome ones on the last MB C320.
