With a quick glance, it seems the Ferrari takes a few styling queues from the Chevorlet Corvette ZR1 when comparing the rear design and the black roofline. No details can be seen from the images to support this is a test mule but the possibility of a rich Ferrari fanatic customising the F430 is highly possible.

Some already say that the looks are not on par for supercar standards, but could this be the F430 replacement?

Finally something interesting on the site. I am getting tired of those BS articles on gas prices.

I agree too. Seems these are desperate times and they are writing up just anything.

It doesn't look too pretty whatever it is.

It's a test mule disguised as a quasi-430. This is not indicative of the actual design.

You're probably right; the entire body seems to be a redesign. Maybe it's just the new look of the F430 due to the current design having been out for a few years.

I agree with "Lecsucks", lately this site has become very boring & I find myself visiting less & less.

Ferrari has a coach building program. It could be a custom design.

Wedouglas has a point: it could be a custom build my only contention is that it is too understated to be custom.

IMO I think it is a test mule for the F430 replacement. It looks like they are experimenting with a more aerodynamic front splitter and a more aggressive rear diffuser. The underside appears to be very smooth. I have no idea what the hell those intakes are on the door panel.

The back appears to be shorter as well which indicates that they are trying to pare down the size and weight.

If I had to speculate, I'd guess that they will go for a high rev 4.0L V8, guaranteed direct injection, electromagnetic valve actuation for full VVT, 7 speed DCT/SMG, and possibly a mechanical KERS. Lean, very mean, and somewhat green machine.

P.S.

Ferrari: please make a 10,000rpm 4.0L V8. It will sound incredible and be stupid powerful.

Something about that cockpit that looks a little McLaren F1-ish, I don't know I can't put my finger on it...this could possibly be a mule used to test the engine for the Millechili (1000kg 94" wheelbase monster fast supercar). It's slated to hit the market in 2010.

I doubt this is a replacement for the F430 since that car has only been in the market for, what, 3 model years? Based on the 360's run, I think Ferrari will get at least another 4 years out of the F430. I doubt they are testing a successor so soon.

If that is the Fioravanti coach-built F430, some wealthy SOB just wasted a lot of money. I'd save the coin and take one hot off the assembly in Maranello over this thing any day.

You are right NARunner, the front end does look a little McLaren F1. Notice the way the front hood runs into the wind shield. The line is almost continuous. This is good from an aerodynamics standpoint.

Looks like someone welded the front of an Lambo to the back of F430.

Isn't the 430 really just a development of the 360 and not entirely new? My guess is this is a test mule for the replacement - I'm not sure if any of this will make it to the production car.

IMO, the 360/430 is one of the greatest models ever, and will be tough to "top", at least in terms of looks.

Y'all know how car companies are. They will use the current body style as the mule w/ a few changes in terms of ducts and vents... the final body style won't be revealed for a long time. Remember the California mule looked a lot like a weird looking 599. But yea, its about time we get something new and interesting on here.
