Spies first to give you an exclusive look at the next Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Even though the Mercedes E-Class is somewhat new with its recent re-fresh, the team in Stuttgart is not resting on its laurels and is hard at work prepping the next generation vehicle.

As you can see from these exclusive spyshots, the photoshop's seem right on showing the Lexus GS-Style front headlamps.

Look for the introduction of the new E-Class early in 2008 as a 2009 model.

That's one big grill...

Looks like a bigger C class in overall shape, hope the lights are good.

I'm willing to bet it will have S-Class like headlights and not GS headlights. They only look like GS headlights because of the camo.

The GS itself copied it too. Mercedes Had it long before Lexus was even created. And it different companies tried it, like the Honda Del-Sol for example.

So don't even mention Gs or Lexus when it's come to originality.

Squared-off quadlights is not a Lexus GS characteristic?

FOUR HEADLAMPS IS A MERCEDES CHARACTERISTIC.

The squared-off look is a variation.

It's like saying Lexus didn't copy the S-Class with the original LS400, when they just took the chasis and make slight modifications. SLIGHT modifications.

AnthonyAnthony - 3/11/2007 12:22:34 AM

Okay. So no other manufacturer is allowed to use four headlamps.

In regards to the four headlamp, Mercedes used it before Lexus was even created. Not saying they can't use it but you have to agree with the facts. IT is facts after all. It's no false statement.

Having variations is fine but when Lexus fans claim their favorite brand innovated that concept that's just showing how much they know about cars.

If i was a car company i'd be embarrassed to have such fans that know nothing.

Good thing you're not a car company, or a smart business person. Otherwise, you'd realize that a fan is a fan, and adds to your sales, and high sales is the No.1 goal.

a fan is not a fan. there are obnoxious fans. and Will, while you often make logical arguments i happen to disagree with, there are some on here that sound like they're next in line for a lobotomy.

and i must say, the loonies have made me LESS likely to ever consider a lexus, rather than more. it's a shame, they make nice cars.

Big C or Small S.

Why just it can't be an E ?

Does it have to look like any other car.

Current E is so Elegent and looks nothing like any MB/or any other car.(CLK only taillights)

It's only u guys(mainly European/eurpoean fans)who says E looks like this or that.And that GS copied E class.

Even Jaguar S type,XJ,Bentley Conti...etc have qaud headlamps.
It means they also copied E class.

Your biass and hatred is unbelievable.

"It's only u guys(mainly European/eurpoean fans)who says E looks like this or that.And that GS copied E class."

WHAT?!

We think (or at least I think- I won't speak for everyone else) that the E is beautiful!

And what was the GS made to compete with, then? The Mitsubishi Galant? The original GS300 was an attack on the 300E, and the second generation was an even bigger rip-off of the E320.

Uhmm... NO... Spies first to give you an exclusive look at some black plastic which will become the next E-class... You can't see anything from those pictures! It might as well just be a dressed up C-class (or old e-class) they drive around in to create some hype around the car... Why are people getting excited over some camo shots?!

S4Cabriofoxone - I think you're over-reacting. If you and other people would stop bashing Lexus style (they HAVE improved) i think they will stop being defensive.
And no, the GS wasn't made to compete with the Mistubishi Galant. Where did you get that from?

Stop fueling the fire with your attacks and let them be.

No matter what MB does to this car there will always be comparison's with others on close it looks and how it might have copied a design element.

It's the same as the new S-Class and the 7 Series...

I hate to be this way, but has anyone actually looked at which Mercedes first had quad headlamps? I started looking this stuff up because I was curious, the first modern Mercedes I can find with quadheadlamps is the 1956 220 S convertible, however, the two secondary lights are not integrated into the body structure of the car they are attached to the bumper: the design is actually a carry over from the prototypical designs of almost every car company in the 30s or so. The first Mercedes to have four distinct [that is an important word: they had those vertical headlamps which apparently hid them under a single glass housing.] lights integrated into the structure of the car was the 1976 Mercedes-Benz 200 as far as I can tell.

The problem with that is that the Jaguar XJ6 came out in 1968. In addition, this wasn't a first for Jaguar. the 1950's Xk had 4 integrated headlamps: at an angular offset. The 1950's Mark VII also had 4 integrated headlamps. The 1950 MArk V also had four headlamps: non-integrated in my opinion, but off of the bumper]

Which Mercedes are you exactly talking about?

Wow. Unlike all of you, I can't see through the thick Mercedes camouflage.

It looks like a sedan with black tape and rubber covering it. At least to me.

But yes, the tape is only of the highest quality...

My comment was primarily in response to this:

"Even Jaguar S type, XJ ,Bentley Conti...etc have qaud headlamps.
It means they also copied E class."

Which I think is an attempt at a logical fallacy [Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc], but it isn't valid, the XJ predates the E, and the S-Type is based upon the 50s XK and the Mark VII sedans. They have nothing to do with the E.

You must have quite an internal filing system to pull something like that out of your ass.

Mercedes cars can last a very long time, but getting that little "award" for your grill means a lot of trips to the repair shop.

The present 350 is a looker by any standard, what MBZ needed to do was very few changes and assurance that they have sloved their computer problems and embarrasment of such low consumer ratings? Dump Chrysler, write it off like a bad marriage and get back to quality control and inovation. Try not to have Lexus into the plant for a couple of years would help also?
