I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Spy Shot: 2008 Mercedes C-Class Sportscoupe
We were hoping Mercedes-Benz would ditch the current styling of the C-Class Sportscoupe for 2008 and offer a true coupe design. But unfortunately, Mercedes belives the half-hatcback - half-coupe styling is popular amongst consumers.
The 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sportscoupe is expected to be powered by the same 3.0 liter V6 found in the sedan that develops 228 horsepower. The 3.5 liter...

Looks just as ugly as it did a few years back. A 6.3L AMG engine model? They're starting to sound like Chrysler, by putting the same engine in multiple models.
"Hey, is that the new S63 AMG?".."Hey, is that the new ML63 AMG?"..."Hey, is that they new CLK63 AMG?"...etc...

I don't mind engine sharing if it's a good engine but Mercedes V-6 engines are mostly 90-degree units which means they are inherently out of balance. A friend who bought a C-Class a couple of years ago complains that engine balance gets better only at higher RPM. Mercedes made a big mistake when it gave up a perfectly good in-line 6 years ago. This is the one area inwhich BMW beats Mercedes in technical excellence.
I wonder what's up with the new 72-degree V-6 diesel? Looks to me like Mercedes is planning to offer a V-10 for which 72 degrees is perfect.

If Mercedes choses to offer the "63' across the entire product line, what's the problem? Granted there may be certain similarity between S63/CL63 ML63/GL63 (GL if offered) and CLK63/C63, etc., but Mercedes is quite happy to charge the extra $20, $30 or $40,000 to affix the AMG emblem to the trunklid. As prevalent as these cars may appear to be to contributors of this and other auto forums, there is NOT an excess of AMG vehicles on the road.

Why have they not given up on this yet? THERE'S ALREADY A CLK. IT'S BETTER-LOOKING, BETTER-DRIVING, MORE LUXURIOUS AND MORE PRESTIGIOUS. It's even based on the C! And if they give the C-Class coupe the 6.3L engine, won't that be too close to the CLK63? This is getting ridiculous.

I don't even know what else there is to add to your post; you pretty much summed it up.
Don't screw with the CLK's market segment. The CLK is a great design and a great alternative for a coupe to the C. Why a C Sportscoupe when the CLK has that covered?

The C-Klasse Sportcoupe does not comepete with the CLK-Klasse at all. The buyers of either types of cars are vastly different.
In the German market the Sportcoupe is aimed at a younger audience. The car is designed to attract younger buyers along with the A-, B- and C-Klassen. The more options the better.
The CLK is a completely different car. More luxury and comfort focused and the target group tends to be older and have more than one Mercedes-Benz in their garage.

Erich, I understand that. But why do they need to make a C63 AMG coupe when the CLK63 AMG is so close in size and power? Especially when the rear end is still this ugly?

Yes, they could've at least made it sharper, like the new C sedan. They really did only stick on a new front end, from the look of these shots.

Look how low the rear fenders are...and the read side looks like they ran out of ideas so they just kept it short and called it a day. It's disgusting!
