Spy Shot: BMW 1 Series Coupe Caught In Testing
If you are a 1 series fan, then these thinly disguised shots of the almost production ready 1 series coupe should make your heart race.

While the profile of this new coupe looks really good, we wonder if the tail shots are indicative of the final design.

Either way this model will go a long way towards introducing a whole new generation to BMW away from the popular Japanese marques that dominate this sector.

these photos finally get some better angles of this car. though it's still hidden quite well, we can really start to see proportions and overall design. the tail lights are still quite a mystery.

i can't wait to test one.

The taillights appear to be something like the E92's.

That's a good looking ride, but it looks tiny to me. However, if they shoehorn in the 3 liter twin turbo engine, the thing will be a rocket. The first picture looks like it could have an intercooler visible behind the bumper. So who knows.

If they were to shoe horn anything into it, it should be the S52B32 engine... Now that would be awesome... The 3.0 TT might be just as fast (or maybe even slightly faster) but it can't compare to the S52 in sound! The only "problem" with that is that nothing, absolutely NOTHING would be able to compete with it in it's class... But that will probably just mean that we'll be seing an RS3 soon... And that can't be bad! But I can't quite figure out which engine they would use... The 4.2 V8 would be way to heavy and the 3.2 V6 is a POS of an engine!
And I don't think they'll need a "shoe horn" at all, because the car is already built for an I6... If they bring out the shoe it should be to stuff the new V8 S65B40 in it... But that is NOT going to happen any time soon!

It looks very similar to the E46 coupe... Just shorter and with more aggresive headlights! It looks good!

Very nice spy shots. These are actually USEFUL, and this may be the first 1 Series I like! Aggressive, modern, and very well-done.

This will be a very successful car..BMW will sell a bazillion of them if priced right. It will wipe the GTI off the map.

I doubt it. The 1 Series hatch is overpriced and underwhelming, which is why it does so poorly next to the GTI in comparos; I don't see why magazines would compare the coupe to it instead. I like this new coupe, but it's comments like that that annoy me.
