I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Spy Shot: Facelifted Mercedes SL caught in Dubai photo shoot
A loyal reader over at WorldCarFans has caught the facelifted Mercedes-Benz SL during a photo shoot. The blury image gives us a good look at the overall body design and the new front end of the car.
Enginge specs are expected to be carried over from the current model. However, for the first time, the Mercedes SL-Class is expected to carry the direct injection 3.5 liter V6 engine first seen in the Mercedes CLS last year. Also, the SL 55 AMG will now become the SL 63 AMG sporting a 6.2 liter V8 engine producing over 600 horsepower.

I agree. I'm not sure about this pointed-noise thing (I don't want it to become something like Cadillac's), but update looks WAY better than the horrible renderings. Wheels are sexy and lights look acceptable from my view.

This car still looks way too old!! I'd much rather have a Jag XKR as it has better styling, handling and a gorgeous interior etc...

I drove the new Jag the other day.It looks great on the outside and cheap on the inside, performance was OK but not for a 100,000 dollar car total rip-off.

Yup... Those engines should have been junked five years ago! I don't think any other european manufacturer have an engine as old currently in production... Especially not in a high performance model as the XK!

I think this is a pretty good use of the CLS lights. I know the CLS was meant to be a 4-door coupe (whatever that means) but it is still a sedan no matter what you call it. Using that shape of lights on a true coupe really makes it pop.

Sorry, Merc, but the CL headlamps only work on the CL.
A strange update on a classic design...

The current SL is still good looking, and an instant classic. Don't like the way this is starting to look. the front grill looks way too extended...

Looks like a good improvement.
I am amazed at how MB can use the same engine to get 450 bhp out of the C63 and 600 for this upcoming SL63.

It won't be 600hp for the SL63, but for the SL65. 500hp for the SL63.

I prefer the Jaguar Xk over this one any day. When the new engine comes with 500 HP, then there will be no question about it, the Jag will be awesome. Had a test drive in Rockville Jaguar that Wednesday, and the car looks just awesome from close, from far, you can't really make out all the lines and curves. I think among all the colors the silver one looked the best, and the interior is quite solid and has a quality feel to the wood and leather. Well i had a stright line run so i can't say how it performs compared to a sports car like a Boxster, but certainly the car felt light and quick, and the sound is just awesome. Merc SL is an icon, but they have made the car too boring looking.

The jag looks good, i admit. But the SL just looks that bit better, both inside and out.

I don't know. The SL is getting on. The XK is fresher, curvier and sexier.

the xk is good for a jag, but it would just not be my choice. xk doesn't have as much road prescence as the sl. the sl is for me.
