Spy Shots: 2008 Dodge Challenger production interior
While the exterior of the production 2008 Dodge Challenger is a secret no more, the interior has managed to stay hidden from view. That changed today when a link to this pair of interior spy shots was found on the challengertalk.com forums. While no designs seen in spy shots are final until the production car is officially revealed, this appears to be where Dodge is at with the Challenger's interior at the moment. To be honest, we're really underwhelmed. Not that we expected a bunch of retro queues inside the Challenger, and not that the car's exterior is all that flashy either, but this center console looks like a parts bin special with a side of fries. We dig the shifter handle, though, and we'll reserve judgment on the gauge pod that's trimmed in shiny metal until we get a better view. Who knows, maybe some will appreciate the plain Jane interior and insist it values function over form. Overall, however, we hope that Chrysler has something a little more special planned for the Challenger's instrument panel before production starts. Read Article

How about if they made the interior how of , die cast , extruded aluminum, stainless steel ,forged metal. Then it would be cool then, huh, Come to think of it japanese and german cars use alot of plastic components in their interiors also , but , wait, It is high grade plastic right??

So the interior inspires you, right? This doesn't look anything more than a boring black box to you? This interior has... "style"? Die cast, extruded aluminum, stainless steel, forged metal, and even plastic can look good, as long as you DO something to them. Just look at the Camaro, or even the Hyundai Sonata face lift.

toolatetorace,

By reading some of your other posts, it sounds like you have a vendetta against anything not American and against any idea that questions an American product.

It's still a Dodge people. Did you ever have any doubt that it wouldn't be ugly as sin? All dodge interiors are cheap and hideous. They've been doing a decent job with exterior stylings as of late (300, Charger, etc.), but they put no work on the interiors at all. I was HOPING for something nicer for this vehicle, but sadly it's typical boring Dodge interior. Kind of a rip off for a $40k car. At that price, might as well just get a nicer quality vehicle imo.

Clearly cost cutting going on here.Sort of Ford did with the T-Bird. Hopefully they change this with the 2009 or 2010 model years.

U-G-L-Y- They aint got no alibi!!!

Am I the only one that thinks this old muscle car craze revival will fad out in just a few years? For crying out loud this car is straight from the 70s an era very much like today if you look at all of the economic factors. AND ITS OVERPRICED!!!! NIce job Dodge, you have tainted the Challenger name with this cheap thing.

Chryslers cost cutting team strikes again. As long as its a functional interior they could care less it seems.

I thought that Chrysler got the message with the Sebring/Avenger and are rushing to redo the interiors. I guess they figured that most people will overlook this as it's a classic muscle car. Therefore who cares!
