Spy Shots: Audi Q7 V12 TDI Caught in Testing
For those of you who refused to believe that Audi's Lemans Diesel technology would never make it to the street. You might start preparing to eat crow.
This Audi Q7 V12 TDI was caught in testing, and will come with the famous 6 liter diesel engine which has 500 bp and torque of 739 ftlb.
Acceleration should be in 5.5 sec from 0 to 60, and is slated for later 2008 introduction.

He meant that in white, the Q7 reminds him of a storm trooper (I think).

well the pink storm troopers didn't get that much play in the first Star Wars but did you see the remake?

BimmerFan, if this is a minivan then BMW 3-and 5-series are upholstered roller skates. This is an Audi SUV with a proper AWD system which BMW could learn from. I'd rather be an Audi fan than a Bimmer fan as Audi gives you a much bigger bang for the buck.

It's not insanity at all. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy a vehicle that one can enjoy for 20 or 30 years. without having to worry about obsolescence or any shortcomings in luxury, comfort or power. I am amazed that Audi has pulled this off so well and given us great fuel economy as well. My wife won't let me buy one because of its size (she wants a smaller SUV) and its price (she is even more frugal than I am).

This is fantastic. Q7 really looks sexy with big wheels- it was designed for them. You know you can get these 20" RS4 rims on the A8 now?

Alright, sorry (!), I was referring to those who weren't in the know. I saw a black A8L with those wheels, and it looked amazing. I claimed in one of the other posts that the A8 was "boring" to me now- but I think the Audi website is making me think less of it. The "BYO Audi" application is terrible. Bad pictures, bad layout. The BYO BMW and BYO VW interfaces are both fantastic. Not this!
When I see another A8 with nice rims, I'll probably love it again.

Sorry, this is only a S-Line Q7 4.2 TDI Truck. AUDI has big problems with the V12 engine, it`s to heavy and the emissions are to bad. The Q7 V12 Truck comes now in fall 2009.

No, in fact it's not. The Q7 S-Line package has two sets of air vents- one on top of the other. It also does not have the LED strip on the top of the vents, instead using a round foglamp. This is identical to the Q7 V12 TDI Concept, minus the chrome. We have an Audi salesman here who will agree with me.

Referring to the first post. The assumptions are incorrect.
TDI is the brand name for Audi/VW diesels and is currently not being sold in half their vehicle fleets for the U.S.; only in the left over, 2006 Jetta 1.9 liters and the 5.0 V-10, VW Touareg. Not a single Audi is currently sold in America with a diesel (TDI); just two VWs. A TDI can be any diesel engine in the VW/Audi family and does not refer to a particular diesel engine.
What is significant is the new breed of diesel engines coming to America from both VW and Audi. The Q7 will offer two TDIs; one 6.0 V-12 and a 3.0 V-6. Audi will probably also offer an A4 TDI with the same 3.0 V-6, and possibly a new, small SUV, called a Q-3 with a twin turbo, 2.0 I-4. Volkswagen will offer a TDI in the Jetta sedan; a Jetta Sport Wagon; and a Tiguan (small SUV) all with a 2.0 I-4. VW will also offer the Touareg TDI, but the 5.0 will go away and will be replaced with a 3.0 V-6.
All of the above will begin in Spring of '08 with the four cylinders and the six cylinder varieties will start coming in around the Fall of '08 when the SCR systems get approved by the EPA.
All of the above will be super clean diesels that will meet fifty-state emission compliance and can all further reduce pollution and carbon if the consumer chooses to use biodiesel or renewable diesel fuel in the fuel blend. Doing so, by the way, will not reduce fuel economy as it does for those who choose ethanol blends in flex-fuel vehicles.
