Spy Shots: Lexus LF-A’s Carbon-Fiber Cabin
Prototypes for
Lexus
’ upcoming LF-A supercar have been spotted testing at the Nurburgring for the good part of a year but until now we haven’t been able to get a good look at the car’s new interior. As these latest spy images reveal, the new LF-A sports an almost identical cabin to the concept version (also pictured below) and includes its full carbon-fiber dashboard and large centralized tacho.
We also get to see the car’s unpainted carbon-fiber roof for the first time as well as some switchgear around the dash. Interestingly, the car’s steering wheel appears devoid of any buttons. However, this could easily change before the introduction of the final production version early next year.

Um, until the LF-A enters production, aren't all the photos/reviews/tests/etc. PRE production?
If you want to bitch about the "production" materials, you'll have to wait a bit.
Relax German-only-fanboys. Relax.

There is a German company called Folia Tec that makes a carbon film in matte or glossy finish that can be used to cover up cheap plastic wood trim or whatever and give you interior that carbon fiber look. BTW, that film is durable if applied to the exterior of the vehicle as well. Carbon fiber is not as expensive as one might think. There are plenty of suppliers one can google who make various sizes of carbon fiber sheet that can be cut and/or bend for interior trim. If I had a Jaguar with all that excessive wood across the dash, I would cover all the wood with carbon fiber.

ennnorak, the reason a jaguar is a jaguar is partly because of all the wood trim. it dates back to many decades ago...they build on the style, not eliminate it and start over.

i think the wood would be my #1 reason to buy a jag.
i love carbon fiber. i mean LOVE it. but NOT in a stylistic/asthetic application. carbon is used to increase performance, not because it's pretty.
would you also rip up your nice hardwood floors to replace them with carbon fiber? i hope not. the bank that gave you a home loan might crucify you as well.

You won't need to win the lottery to obtain this car. It's easily obtainable if you have a decent job or you can "save".

easily obtainable with a decent job? Uh, what? This is a $200k car. That's a $4000 monthly payment (as if people buying $200k cars were actually financing them -- they pay cash).
Maybe your idea of "decent" is different than, well, reality. It'll take a lot more than a "decent job" or a few years of saving to buy this car or anything like it, or everyone with a "decent job" would be driving Ferrari's.

Wow 200K for a Lexus. Try to convince the world to purchase that over an Audi R8. It's going to be hard. I trust that they've been given enough time to develop a proper looking coupe. They can't capture a luxury GT car market but want to jump past the benchmark SL and go straight for a so called "supercar". It doesn't make much sense to me.
If i was gonna buy a fast Japanese car I would just go buy a GT-R which seems to be built very solidly and priced MUCH cheaper than that 200K number you gave me. Again Lexus is trying to copy Mercedes by having a "supercar" just like they copied Mercedes by having the Maybach rear seats in their LS. Deboost me fan boys but you know its true. There's no prestige in making a supercar but companies like Audi and Merc just can. Lexus needs to concentrate on other things besides making a supercar.
I'm going to get a lot of heat for this but its ok. Toyota wanted this LF-A to be the next Supra replacement but they wanted the "prestige" so they're badging it a Lexus. DIFFERENT COMPANIES OR NOT we all know they still share parts so lets not ignore that fact. It's like slapping the GT-R with an Infiniti badge. Same doodle different pile.

Carbon fiber really makes the interior look cheap. And with a C/F roof, this car is guaranteed to be expensive, unless Lexus decides to follow Nissans route with the GT-R.
If LF-A doesn't offer something short of awesome to distinguish it from the over rated Euros, LF-A will never be able to repeat what the LS600H has done.

What has the LS600H done that could be considered awesome? It is the flagship that is slower than its LS460 sibiling and gets trounced by the S600.

LS600H is sold out!! Even at 100K plus. That's something that's never happended to a japanese car before. LF-A may not be able to do the same.

Let's not start this again. The LS600h is sold out because people are sheep, not because it's a great car. If anything it's a testament to how good Lexus's marketing people are that a car that has been universally denounced in every test by every source, a car that literally delivers on none of the greenness/fuel economy/performance promises made during its debut, a car that is actually a slower, worse performing, less utilitarian vehicle than its own less expensive sibling (let alone the competition)... is sold out. But make no mistake, it isn't sold out because it's good. It's sold out because people will buy anything that makes them look hip/green/earth loving to other idiotic, similarly stupid people who don't realize that buying one makes them none of those things.
As PT Barnum said, "there's a sucker born every minute". Well, there's an LS600h for every one of them. At least the rich ones.

Don't be jealous that the S600, S63, S65 cost more than your Lexus Hybrid that's supposed to be crazy in fuel economy but really not?....in my opinion. Good way of luring people in but you want a full size luxury sedan, you go get a benchmark car and that is the S-Class.
Give credit where credit is due. The S has paved the way for many brands and envious automakers. Some have become just as successful or close.
When I drive my LS I feel very boring. When I drive my 550 I feel alive and happy. Don't know any other LS/S class owners here but that's how I feel.

I seriously doubt the interior will look the same as what it is now. If you take out the wiring, tape, walkie talkie and switch boxes, it does look pretty stark. But I would think that the interior details have not been finalized yet as they are still trying to tweak the car's performance. Who knows, they could have an "interior" mule as well floating around their factories....but I could be wrong.

Carbon Fiber looks good on my bicycle, not my dashboard. I have 1 vehicle with the silver mesh dashboard, I hate it. It glares at night. My other vehicle has a woodgrain dash which I love.
Ever notice, the most expensive cars of the world have rich wood interiors? Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls, Duisenberg and Jaguar.
The VW Passat Wagon does the Aluminum Dash the best. That is the only silver dash I like. The Germans somehow design everything right.

Lexus is more of a family car. Jaguar has a much richer interior. Unfortunately you can’t get a Jaguar with a stick anymore.
Jaguar is marketing the brand as more of a lady’s car these days.

Toyota is desperatly trying to make something that could be better than the new supercar's benchmark.. The new GT-R
They even cloned the name "LF-A from GT-R"
consedering the predicted price i dont think that it can fixed as the GT-R which is considered as a steal to the end customer.
the LF-A will be a major failure for Toyota.

Looks like the interior in the LFA concept, and that to me is one of the best interiors i have seen ever in a car. If Lexus can even bring all the techno gizmo display panels also into production, then really we will have an interior that will only be surpassed by Bugatti Veyron in the Supercar segment, all the supercars have minimalistic interiors, whereas this LFA will seek to pertain to Lexus's motto of Luxury infused speed. And Oh actually the Audi R8 also has an exceptional interior, too, but from what i have seen, the LFA concept interior is higher class.

What have you seen other than concept interiors? It's impossible to gauge what a real interior will be like (materials-wise) from that.
Anyway, it SHOULD be higher-class because this car might be nearly twice its price.
