Spy Shots: MINI SUV (or SAV) spotted with testing with X5
Our friends over at CarMagazine have spotted the MINI SUV, or SAV, testing alongside the BMW X5 in Munich. Engine sizes for the MINI SAV are expected to start at 1.4 liter and up to 1.6 liter. A 2.0 liter variant could also be in the works.

So far what we know about the MINI Colorado is that it won’t have the off-roading qualities of the traditional SUVs. Instead, the car will cater to those shopping...

Does anyone else think this is just the Clubman Cooper? I am certainly not impressed with the styling... Love my Cooper S's looks though...

Probably, but...

The underpinnings could very well be those of the 'upcoming' Mini-Ute.

I would say from the Pic that the mini in it was approx 75% of the height of the X5

No more than 80%

There's no way it's anything close to 90% the height of the X5. The BMW is by no means a very tall vehicle, but this MINI shouldn't be considered an "SUV." I see no point to its existence.

I keep telling you Kaiser

Your calculations on quite a few issues are wrong by a considerable margin.

First the 0-60mph times of the GT-R
Next the AWD to RWD Advantage Comparisons
Now Height Calculations.

Touchy are we ?
Interesting that you would resort to Personal insults as opposed to just debating the points put forth by myself.

Another Correction: My Username is I95SPEEDINGTICKETS as in I-95 SPEEDINGTICKETS as in Interstate 95 Speeding Tickets.
I happened to spend a lot of time on the Interstate 95 driving from NY - ATL - Miami when i was in the USA, that way i got to see more of the USA as opposed to just flying around. Being that i am British and am used to Cruising at around 100mph and going fast is considered 150+mph i regularly was ticketed on the I-95 for going above 80mph.

This tells me again about your character, you assume that somebody with multiple speeding tickets is Reckless, Do you know that Dangerous Driving Kills and not Speeding ?
Ask yourself why Speed limits have not been increased to reflect the advances in Vehicle Dynamics, Braking or Tyre Technology, might it have something to do with revenue ?

So i guess the many drivers i see on the Interstate cruising at the 55mph Limit while reading a book or drinking coffee and chatting on the cell while lane changing without signalling are much safer drivers than myself who cruises at 100mph but puts my full concentration on the road at all times ?

You come across as one of those Supercillious, self congratulatory people who think that anyone with opposing views are less intelligent.

Tell you what, I did some calculations of my own and reached conclusions that the height of the Mini in the picture is no more than 80% of the height of the X5.

TheSailor and other Autospies posters, I invite you to do your own calculations and post your conclusions on the Height Differences between the 2 Vehicles from above. {Roof to Roof Height Comparisons}

You guys just don't understand why a company like Cooper would come out with a mini SUV.

It's because it's fresh, a company needs to change things around and they did their research to determine if people would buy the SUV.

Hi there!
After reading all the comments about height-comparisons and BMW building a pretty similay second car I have to post some thoughts...

First of all I found these spyshots of the clubman:

http://www.autozeitung.de/online/bildDB/44933_509.jpg

This care looks pretty the same to me. The Clubman is everything but no lowrider.

The one on this page definitly has a suicide-door. I suppose this is a unique Clubman-Feature.

And any profit-company would manufacture the same looking parts in two differnt sizes [it seemed to me like someone said it looks like a clubman but everything is a bit bigger]

It think that all the troubles you guys were facing are all based on the angle the photo is taken.
The X5 is closer to the redlight, the "unknown car" therefor a little more distant to the photographer.

The X5 looks sporty maybe it's suspension is in the sport mode an so the whole car ist pretty low.

The Clubman should be 1,432m the X5 1,707m (I guess in normal Mode)... 27cm difference, not more and because the X5 has a pretty high roof that should be fine...

Sorry but I assume there is no Mini SUV out there yet, a least not on this spyshot...

Concerning the talk about 0-60 times... You should only concider the weight/horsepower but mainly torque, gears an so on... Just compare an Audi A8 4.2FSI to an 4.2TDI. Sure the Diesel hat got more weight an even less hp (326-350) but the TDI is almost one second faster!
