I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Spy Shots: Porsche 911 GT2 to debut in Frankfurt
The Porsche 911 GT2, which is lighter and faster than the Turbo, is expected to make its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. With a 3.6 liter boxter twin-turbo engine, the Porsche 911 GT2 produces 525 horsepower, giving it the ability to do 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 200 mph.

From the images you can see that the Porsche 911 GT2 has a huge rear wing, cooling ducts on the rear bumper and large air intakes in the front.

The car is expected to arrive in Europe in early 2008 with a price tag of £120,000.

4.5 sec to 60? Seems kinda off considering the turbo gets there in about 3.5sec and this car has more power, and is lighter without AWD system. I know losing the traction off the line with the AWD will hurt, but it should be able to match the time with the extra power and weight loss.

I know, I thought that was odd too. It's mostly likely a typo. Since the Porsche website lists the turbo at 3.7s to 60mph, this article probably meant to say 3.5 instead of 4.5. I doubt Porsche would make the gt2 slower than the regular turbo.

CarMagazine: "The GT2 should hit 60mph in around 4.5seconds - that’s a little slower than the all-paw Turbo (3.9seconds) because of its rear-drive layout. But the GT2’s in-gear acceleration will leave even the unfeasibly quick Turbo for dead."

Must be 3.5 sec. to 60 mph. This car in the previous iteration was faster than the Twin Turbo 996 and also the GT3. If we go by the numbers of the new 997 turbo and the 997 GT3, we can expect this car to be the fastest Porsche 911.

3 seconds, 4 seconds, 5 seconds -- who cares? Even an Audi sedan with the 4.2 V8 will pin you to the seat at maximum acceleration. As for Porsche, I'll take the Turbo with AWD any time even though I generally prefer superchargers over turbos.

It looks fantastic! The 997, while not particularly different, dazzles me. It looks beautiful in every variant.

I agree with you! Even though many complain that they can't tell the differences between 911 models, the line is simply amazing. And even though they come with different engines or drives, there are no disappointments! What strikes me as odd is that the last GT2 model (996) did 4 seconds from 0 to 60. Surely this one will not be slower?

It won't be- this is just an estimation. And even if this was Porsche's time (which it's not), Porsche, like Audi and BMW, always underestimates its 0-60 times.

I hear unlike the GT3, traction control system is not safe enough for nonprofessional drivers so the anticipated GT2 will have Porsche Stability Management instead. PASM will be standard and will likely use VTG technology.

I'd be surprised if PASM wasn't standard... it comes with every "lowly" C2S, C4S, and T4S.

It's the ultimate Porsche no doubt.Great
Will easily beat the Ferrari F430 and Gallardo.

But GBK 120K.Wow.That's too much for a Porsche(I mean basically it's only a 911 variant).

Better take 599 or even Murcielago LP640.

The GT2 may only be a variant but you can't deny it's as fast as it's competition. It's the most understated and under-rated supercar maker in the world IMO.

Porsche doesn't need to change their designs much to get returning buyers. People love them for how they execute.

Try comparing the doggy Aston Vantage to this car! Now we're talking apples to apples!
