Spy Shots: Porsche Panamera caught in Scandinavia
The Porsche Panamera might as well be crowned the most spotted vehicle of all time. Spies have spotted the car here, here and at one time, even spotted 6 of them just hanging out in a parking garage. Many thought we’d see the Porsche Panamera this year at the Geneva Motor Show after a very strange spy video hit the web, but we were disappointed once again.

Well now the Mercedes CLS competitor has been spotted once again by our friends over at CARMagazine, this time in Scandinavia. The shots give us the best look yet at the Panamera’s rear end.

The entry level Panamera is expected to carry a 3.6 liter V6 while the range-toppers are expected to have a 4.8 liter V8 with an option of twin-turbos. The latter will produce...

It's a good thing this vehicle has the name, because it certainly doesn't have the looks. Hopefully it changes (A LOT) when it gets to production, because this is almost comical. I thought the Cayenne was bad, but they've outdone themselves.

Could this be some huge joke porsche is playing on us all? Some shell over the car to-be, i honestly do not believe that they would produce a shape like this...

It's been so long since the first spy shots and speculations, I'm sure that Porsche is already working on the face lift or even the second model without having introduced the first. What a shame.

Well people-This is the car with minimal camoflouge. Unfortunately for Porsche they are pretty design frozen based on 911 ideology. They have based all of their products on the 911 lineage that their design flexibility is completely limited. The exception is the Carrera GT. But if you look back for the past 25 yrs and the failure of the 928, Porsche has simply gone to the fail safe mode of the 911.The 911 has simply been their core design philosophy. 911 design rules every vehicle Porsche makes.Their resoning must be that if you do somthing different it cannot be a Porsche. This is their achilles heal because the Panamera is simply what a 911 would look like if it were made into a sedan and the engine moved to the front. From my perspective the car is only "OK". It is certainly not beautiful. In actuality Porsche has an easier time designing the front of the Panamera then they do with the Cayenne. That is simply because the Cayenne is so much taller off the ground that grilless look with the 911 headlamps look strange. It is a definate design challenge for them. As for the rear of the Panamera they cannot do a 3 box sedan look for fear that it will not look enough like the 911.Yet they wanted to give the car good headroom and leg room so it's this gigantic 4dr hatchback.I think Porsche should re evaluate their entire design philosophy.

Well said Mini!

I know it contradicts "Porsche", but I agree..."I think Porsche should re evaluate their entire design philosophy."

From a historical perspective the Porsche 904 was one of the prettiest designs that ever came out of Stuttgart. It might not be a bad place to base the sports cars from. However since Porsche is now making SUV's and soon Sedans there needs to be be a different design language established.

Porsche PLEASE do not make this beached whale. Why copy the CLS when it is not selling all that well. The XF is ugly, the CLS is ugly. Who do the manufacturers think is going to buys these impractical coupe/sedans?

People complain about the LF-A taking too long? What about this... THING... !

This was a failure from the get-go. I agree with what Mini said as well, however I love the 911 and its careful evolution.

Looks like crap!.... I love Porsche but I hate the idea of having this car. Make it a proper looking sedan for christ sake!. They should've put the new Cayenne front end on that but make it more flush and flatter on the hood along with the Cayenne's rear instead of trying to maintaining a typical Porsche rear end.

If Porsche does produce this and it actualy does look like this I think it will be for the UK only. I dont se that selling well in North America.

I'm sure it will perform beautifully...

...but it looks like they tried to add a low-slung sports car roof line to a station wagon and it just doesn't work. Kind of like a Frankenstein mashup of the front of 911 and the rear of a Cayman, raised to sedan height, then stretched to add a second set of doors.
