Spy photos: Chevrolet Volt Interior
Some network errors caused General Motors a flood of interesting shoots with the new Chevy Volt, mostly shoots of interior production. We can observe a display panel that seems to be a preview of the vehicle and a plane console with no buttons, entirely white. Apparently the controls are touch sensitive and the console is flanked by flush air vents making a contrast with the black dash panel. The information display keeps the “range extending” engine and the lithium-ion batteries linked. Now we just have to wait for an official reveal of the car to confirm the appearance.

Very nice, but why is the door lock button on the center console? and is that the power button also in the middle?

But from this angle the quality and design looks very nice, let’s hope the entire interior is good and that I won't change my judgment.

Door lock buttons on the center console are becoming pretty common, I believe BMW started the trend. It does make designing a car for both RHD and LHD easier.

Our 99 7 series has the door lock button on the centre console. Most Mercs do too, I think.

Didn't this trend start in sports cars and other like the F430?

Looks like their trying to go with an Apple / iPod white look to borrow some trendiness / youngness. Screen looks a bit cheap with that big bezel but we shall see, we're still a year away from seeing the final thing.

Yeah! the best at building a bunch of "one-hit-wonder" models. In a couple of years I'm sure they'll have model called "Surge" or "Lightening" to replace the slow-selling Volt.

I think Apple is now saying - white is out and aluminum is in. Aluminum = new white.

Anyhow, after having a crApura with several buttons, manufacturers should leave the controls simple in all cars. Too many damned buttons.

Bringing my comment full circle - Let the screen be touch for advanced features but with simplicity of a Garmin or an iPhone.

Chevrolet appropriately name this car "Volt" since it will electrocute everyone in the car when it malfunction like all their products. At this rate, there will be no more of these Chevrolet fan boys.
