Spy pictures of the BMW X6 Hybrid
The technology featured in this model was previewed in the BMW X6 ActiveHybrid concept that was revealed in the Frankfurt show last year. Developed with General Motors and Daimler, the system uses two high-performance electric motors connected to each other by three planetary gear sets.

First it was VW, MB, Porsche, Hyundai, and now BMW copying Lexus and Toyota in making hybrid.
I thought the German fanboi said hydrid is for girls? I guess when gas at the pump is $5 to $10 gallon, depend on where you live in the world, it not a bad ideas after all ha...!

Hybrid in Prius form may be for girls but not an X6. Who's laughing now.

It's good to see BMW continue to innovate and bring us hybrid technology, now the rest of the auto industry can copy them and release their own dual power hybrids. Thank you BMW for being 10 years late.
20% in fuel efficiency, that sounds a lot like the GS450h's gains in efficiency. I guess BWM also brought us the performance-hybrid since now BMW has shown us hybrids aren't just for saving fuel, but for boosting performance too.
I wish Lexus would stop copying BMW, next thing you know, BMW will have to show us the industry's 2nd 8spd auto.

sure, 20% SOUNDS like the GS450h gain. Unfortunately it ISN'T the GS450h gain, since it only gets 1mpg better in real world tests than the 535i that outperforms it. And you lose half the trunk.
Awesome -- same price, same economy, lower performance, half the space. Sounds like a winner to me!

Contrary to propoganda, the X6 isn't that large. BMW just took a larger vehicle and gave it less interior space, just like the took the same engine and destroyed its mileage.
RX400h has about a 30% increase in mileage over the RX350. That's how its done.
535i gets 17/26/20mpg. GS450h gets 20/25/23mpg. The turbo might be a tad faster, but that's it. I'll trust the EPA before I trust some German mag who's notorious for loading down any Lexus hybrid with cement before they test it. Everybody BUT the Europeans can get good performance from a hybrid.
The GSh has about a 15-18% improvement over the GS460 in mileage but practically the same performance.
The GS450h has virtually the same CO2 emissions as the 530i in the UK. www.bmw.co.uk Great engineering BMW. Less with more philosphy?
You may lose half the trunk but atleast the GSh isn't as ugly as the 5. True the GSh only has 7.4cu/ft of trunk space, but the 5er's 11.1cu/ft isn't a giant difference. I don't hear anyone complaining about the 4mpg Hydrogen7 losing have its trunk because of the hydrogen tank. The RX350 only has about 6 more cu/ft of cargo space vs the RXh.
I don't expect a BMW fan to understand this though. You probably still think diesel is the wave of the future.

this hilarious for one thing.......I have yet to see a test where those Lexus hybrid cars or even the Prius actually get the epa ratings they are claimed....its always a small-large amount less....not to mention a gain of 3 "epa rated" miles in the city versus the BMW isnt much of a gain given the BMW 535i isnt a hybrid and gets better highway miles. Add in fact the 535i will outperform the V8 GS with a 6cylinder, will outhandle the GS, actually has steering feedback, while not losing any of its trunk space for a supposed superior technology and it boils down to the GSh makes no sense at all to buy......less performance, less cargo capacity, less epa ratings, more money, and than you can really see whos offering less for more.......about the hybrid thing its not a new technology it has been around for decades....and when a Jetta TDI can get better mileage than a Prius I think diesel certainly has its advantages....http://www.edmunds.com/advice/fueleconomy/articles/126370/article.html

you know. instead of trusting any test result, a more reliable and easily accessible way is just go ahead and ask hybrid users.
i have never owned a hybrid car in my life (yet), but i never doubt their fuel efficiency because all my co-worker who owned one kept tell me how much they love their cars.

people who buy most cars and keep them....love them..whats your point...should I go and by a Ram SRT10 Crewcab because the guy who owns told me he loves it...or should I use a credible source.......some people make fall for anything and than there was marketing hype..loving a car has nothing to do with test results, test show the objective not the subjective...but thanks for the useless comment

bmwdrvr,
Where have you been? Did you not hear that the new Jetta TDI's are not the same price as the Prius now?
VW stands absolutely no chance against the next Prius, especially if the oil companeis continue to hose the handful of suckers who fell for the European diesel fad.
You can go to www.fueleconomy.gov and there are user postings on mileage. I ignore them because actual owners have a tendency to be a little bias no matter what vehicle they drive.
www.vw.ca
www.toyota.ca
Check out the prices, both are now $27,500 except the Prius delivers while the TDI forces you to buy more expensive fuel for poorer mileage and performance.

LMAO!!!! i assumed you would totally dodge the comparison of the 535i and GS450h and shoot straight for this rediculous banter about prices of fuel.....because my point still remains the GSh makes no sense...and neither can you prove otherwise....3mpg in the city for a slower, less practical, lack luster handling, and mediocre car that fails to be a class leader at anything......about the Jetta TDI vs the Prius it still has proven to get more miles on a tank than the prius in many conditions....and when Toyota/Lexus can find a way to include performance in these SO CALLED performance Hybrids without falling short on performance and fuel economy maybe they we will be taken serious but when a 300hp twin turbo 6 with a 5.0 second 60 time can get better highway miles, and lose only 3mpg in the city to a Lexus Hybrid I think next generation they should go alot further on a delivering on the 2 things they failed to bring...PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY...
