Stud Or Dud? This The The Face Of Mercedes' New E-Class
Whether you like it or not my friends 001 tells us we are seeing the new face of Mercedes E-Class right here.

This pretty bold departure from the mainstream may either turn you on or turn you off depending on your point of view.  But knowing this will be the shape of things to come from Mercedes how do you think  it will stack up against the likes of the Infiniti's M, or even BMW's 7.  Does it have the sex appeal of BMW's 5 Series or even Audi A6?

Let us know is this new face a Stud or a Dud?

I like it very much! It has exactly the sort of aggressiveness I was expecting from the new 7-series...

The title is VERY misleading. The E-class will have a traditional grille with the star hood ornament and much more conservative bumper. What this could be however is the face of the E-Class coupe rumored as the replacement for the CLK. The only thing that will be "similar" are the headlights.

I do agree that this is the shape of things to come from Mercedes. And although Ive never been a fan of wagon-shaped vehicles, the rest of this car is breathtaking.

You are probably right. I'm noticing the frameless door windows which usually go on coupes.

Agreed, this is more inline with what a coupe will be. Nonetheless, it looks great.

I like MB, but this kinda resembles the new Acura "Beak" theme.

Looks way better than Acura's version though.

I will reserve judgement until the official photos are released.

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking. I still think the profile looks like a Hyundai.

Not only that, but whenever I see a sharp line in the middle of the car, it gives me nasty flashbacks to the beginning of the ruination of Acura style, the CL.

Stud.

I love the current E-class front end with the round headlights, but this is a very nice re-interpretation of the E-class.

Much better compared to those so called "official" pictures we got a few weeks back.

I can't wait! My dad is going to get a new E class, and this depends on it!

Emulates the Acura Front End in shape with a splash of Infiniti and Mazda Concept. How? Sweeping grill lines.

10X better than garbage econobox BMW's.

BMW owners are too poor to afford Audi's and Benz's.

I think the picture shown is for a "show car" whereas the real front on a production E will be more tame. This is unfortunate because, based on the pictures of the new E that have been posted over the last 1-2 weeks, the new E is disappointing in appearance. It does not evoke a sense of solidness or elegance, which in my opinion, is what the E represents. The E will never be the sporting sedan that the 5 represents so I can only judge it in terms of "solidness" or "elegance". I hope I'm wrong though because I really like/admire/respect the E class and what it represents.

I'll reserve judgement until I see it in person. Mercedes designs tend to be like that these days. Another thing is that I see pillarless doors. That implies a coupé. The grille on the sedan may be a bit more pleasing to the eye. I'm not feeling the dual rhombus headlamps...but as I said...we'll see...

I would actually prefer they used a "sport" grill like this one, with the big star in the middle. Makes it look infinitely more aggressive and more finished. Maybe they'll do a Sport model and a Luxury model, as in the C-Class?

Either way, stud. I hope it makes it to production with a front just like this.

Why do Autospies always start rumors with no substance or basis in fact? This is not the new face of the E class. This is a concept. We have already seen the face of the E class. This is not it.

The doors are frameless like that CLS, it looks like in the picture there is a rear door window. This car looks amazing from the front! a definate stud. I applaud MB for the move forward. As for the guy saying it resembles the acura "beak"...... my friend you seem to have a bad eye. I love it even more with the star in the grill versus as an emblem on the hood. STUD.

Ok well I've had a few cocktails and didnt go through the entire 08 paris autoshow album, it obviously has no rear door, but a large rear window. Other than that I agree with what I posted... and what the F is up with the ugly chicks in the AUTOSHOW album. I would say its about 10% hot girls, the rest look pathetic. Take pictures of better looking girls, not just the ones that pay attention to you.
