Subaru Sets It's Sights On BMW With New Coupe
It's the most stylish Subaru ever! And this striking Impreza coupé will go into production in 2010.
Joining the recently launched hatch-back model, it will allow the Japanese company to tackle the BMW 3-Series Coupé and Nissan 350Z head-on, as well as reach out to new customers.
The car has been developed as part of a joint venture with Subaru owner Toyota – the project will also spawn a long-awaited successor to the Nineties Celica. The Impreza coupé takes styling cues from the five-door model, but gets a rakish rear end. That gives it a chunky yet athletic appearance which stands out from the crowd.
Power will come from a choice of two engines, both employing the flat-four boxer layout for which Subaru is famous. There’s a normally aspirated 2.0-litre unit giving around 180bhp, or a high-performance 2.5-litre turbo powerplant borrowed from the range-topping five-door STi. The latter will deliver in the region of 300bhp.

this isn`t answer to any bmw , it`s rather successor of impreza coupe from 90`s or eventually celica , imprezas are different cars than bmws , i`m sure it wouldn`t be as luxurious as bmw .

That looks brilliant. I can't belive that deisgn is derived from the ugly Impreza's design.
Stunning. This is what Impreza design should have been.

Stop fooling yourself. Nissan use the 3-series as their benchmark when they develop cars - see the 1:20 mark in this video.

Brammer dont even bother questioning this fool, who admits to wanting a dropped camry. If that doesnt destroy any and all credibility, Im not sure what will.

I don't think that people shopping for a 3 coupe will be cross-shopping this Impreza coupe.

Who comes up with these idiot headlines? This car looks more like an Acura TSX than it does a BMW by far.

It actually looks quite nice...
3 Series coupe competition it is not, but it will surely give Nissan and Hyundai a fright.

Yes, Subaru can dream. Now back to reality were Subaru has hard time proving that it makes better cars than ...Mitsubishi.

Its easy to see that subaru is easily the worst of the japs....by FAR. They have not one single car with anything close to almost nearly possibly remotely resembling a good-looking design. And then add in those godawful sounding go-kart engines.....

Now that's gorgeous! IMHO, a 1000% improvement on what I like to call the 2008 Subaru "RX350" -- what can I say, the current STI isn't doing it for me with its bland styling.

another wannbe, another contender...
as C&D said.. other car makers shoudl stop producing their cars and just produce M3s!!. Same applies here.

BMW's are for poor people who's parents can only afford to lease. This Subaru is probably placed above the 1-series incase any of those customers actually get jobs.
Subi's not even out yet and BMW fans are already worried.
Like how Subaru doesn't compete against BMW when everyone was comparing the 135i to whatever they could find that day (135i vs G37 vs Evo X vs STi vs Tahoe vs RX350 vs Civic etc)

Toyota will probably charge 10% financing to ensure they're priced beyond the reach of fobs and wannabes.
