Subaru killing the WRX
Subaru will be unveiling its all new Impreza during April’s New York Auto Show. Subaru will be dropping the familiar sedan and wagon models in favor of a new five-door hatch body style that’s based on the unsightly B5 TPH concept car pictured above, which was previewed at the last Tokyo Auto Show.

Performance fans will be hurt to know that Subaru could possibly drop the WRX model in favor of focusing on its more potent STi range. There are no intermediate plans to carry over the WRX model and instead the STi will move down-market to fill the gap.

That would suck. Not only would it be out of current WRX owners' price ranges (probably), but it wouldn't any longer compete with the Evo!

No, I wasn't. I like the WRX and the Legacy. It's just you who hates Audi for no reason.

Let this news be absolutely false. Subaru needs the Impreza sedan and the WRX model.

This is false. Look at the B9 styled grill. Subaru killed that theme nearly a year ago.

That is very true. That will hurt Subaru big time I think with the down market of the STi. Wouldn't the STi still compete against the EVO no matter what price range it is in? In my opinion the STi is overpriced but the EVO is good value for money. The performance is outstanding.

This must bug the current WRX/STi owners that their model is either discontinued or down marketed.

Wow, you're very anxious and self-defensive. A lot of the people on this site actually like Subaru. mstangpny07, especially.

WRX engine could find its way into Toyotas :)

STi for Subaru to concentrate on sport. WRX for Toyota to compete in compact performance. WRX and STi were kind of redundant for one brand.

That drawing is ugly though.
