Survey: Your Current Car(s)!
Well, it has been over two years since I last made this type of post. During those two years, Autospies has seen many new members come and go, from the infamous David989 to Will. As car enthusiasts, I am sure many of the members here that have been with Autospies over the years have changed their vehicles since the last time this survey was done. So, what do all of you drive? Be honest in your responses and no flaming!

2007 Phantom Black Audi Q7 3.6 Premium S-Line (leased)

I like it a lot. I had a CLK previously and Im happy I went the sportier route with the SLK. Although its the base model it accelerates, handles, and brakes very well. Its enough to keep me happy.

I got the Mars Red Ext with the contrasting black and light beige Int. Appearance packg (wood steering wheel with wood accents throught, 17" twin spoke wheels, smoked headlights), and the Premium I pckg.

Theres something about that older SLK interior I miss! It was indeed flashier :)

How do you like the G8? I haven't gotten around to test driving one.

pushrod27pushrod27 - 7/16/2008 8:01:12 PM
+4 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
The G8 is fantastic. Everything i thought it would be. My only complaint is that the exhaust is too quiet. Also, the seat recline adjuster is some funky rotating knob that's difficult to reach.

I assumed that the V8 would be a rumbling, basso profundo monster. Instead it's luxury car quiet. I'll need to apply some aftermarket pipes to get what i'm looking for.

The G8 is light-years ahead of the Impala SS, but the SS has it beat hands-down on exhaust note. The SS grunts and rumbles like the G8 ought to.

The G8 needs an aftermarket sound system as well. It's Blaupunkt, but it's not very loud. The Mark Levinson system in the Lex coupe is much better.

(I like loud. I lust for big power and the sounds that accompany it - be it horsepower or music)

Bmw8terBmw8ter - 7/16/2008 8:14:36 PM
+3 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
I rank a quality sound system right up there with the hp figures. I listen to a lot of crazy crap like Crazytown and ICP. A little bass is nice, but you have to have some harmony with the mids and highs.

What about the 6 speed auto? I haven't read any reviews that really rank it. Is it anywhere near VW's DSG?

motor1motor1 - 7/16/2008 8:26:13 PM

And the G8 comes from the city I grew up in - which has only 1 million people and is one of the most boring western cities in the world - Adelaide, South Australia.

Keep your eyes peeled on you 2007 Camry V6 XLE. I have the same exact model. My wife and I had a major issue with an exhaust valve malfunctioning and choking out the engine.

You'll know when it happens because all of your dash lights will come on, and the motor will start to "lurch". 3 dealer visits,a week in the shop on the 3rd, and a $1,400 repair under warranty within the first 3 months of ownership.

Been reading the site for a few weeks (very addictive) and thought I would register and post my first comment.

I think I must have spent too much money on my house then my cars when reading what everyone else owns.

2008 VW Jetta Wolfsburg (in order to get 2.0 turbo)
2008 Ford Fusion

I just bought the VW a couple of weeks ago. I traded in my 2003 325ci. As much as people love them - it was one of the worst cars I ever owned. I spent more money fixing it then I did making my monthly payments. Not saying that is representative of the car - just my miserable experience. Wife got rid of her 2003 Mazda MPV for the Fusion. Just needed something with decent gas mileage compared to a big van.

I wouldn't buy new either - what a waste of money. Things like S classes or whatever, they lose like hundreds of pounds a week, you may as well just stand over a drain. And especially since (In Britain) 17.5% of the price of a car is tax it's just stupid to buy new. Buy like 3 years old, it's lost most of the money by then, but still feels like a relatively 'new' car.

My cousin had the E46 M3 Convertible and the amount he was spending on gas/petrol every week was ridiculous. So with the E93 coming out, he got a 335i with the M pack. I've compared them, and the 335i M does much better and still gives you good performance.

thanks for the recomendation. I'd actually been looking at a 335 Convert. after one of my buddies got the 2008 Coupe. He had tradedin his '03 M3 and he said it felt as fast if not faster. I'm sure the new V8 is amazing, but as you noted, gas prices are deplorable.

I'm a private property developer but I also employ many people across Europe and the USA, but still privately. The reason I can probably afford those cars (besides the career) is also because I often buy used/demo models and I'm not fussed on mileage because in a few years time I'll probably sell it anyway.
