The Gumball 3000 isn't the very first road rally but I think it's safe to say it should be credited with bringing back the concept from the dead. Now there's a bunch of them ranging from The Player's Run to Bullrun.
Regardless, Gumball started the trend years ago.
This year's run is being held from London to Istanbul. Following this year's run, information about the 2012 "classic" rally will be released.
Gumball HQ confirmed to GTspirit that the 2012 Gumball 3000 Rally will be a classic coast-to-coast rally starting in New York and finishing eight days later in Los Angeles, California. The 14th annual Gumball 3000 can be seen as a tribute to the 70s film The Gumball Rally that formed the roots of the modern day Gumball 3000 rally. Prices and further details will released after this years Gumball 3000 rally that starts tomorrow at Covent Garden in London and finishes eight days later in Istanbul.
